Eliminating a cheap sport such as track would not justify adding womens hockey.

If your house and garage are falling apart you dont buy a new car.
actually they do. More familys who have daughters playing youth hockey go as a family to see local womens college hockey teams, than do family with boys playing youth hockey. girls youth hockey is exploding across the country right now, and the time is ripe for BG add a womans Varsity team. As for paying for ice time, again its no impact long term as the team would be a revenue generating team vs ...gymnastics, tennis, cross country, track, golf. And dare I ppoint out that a new varsity sport like womans hockey would also generate excitement and draw people just for being "new". Minnesota, WI, BC etc all have womans and mens varsity teams, none have ice issue with time for varsity and other sports.
Womans Hockey at BG would be a good positive income generating team for the school. Yes some sacrifices would have to be made to add a womans team there is no question about that, but with a new area on the horizon adding a womans team now would be ideal.

Gymnastics and track to bring in revenue but they do not lose as much as womens hockey would.

If OSU womens team loses half a mil a year how do you figure BG would turn a profit?

We have a hard enough time putting up posters and trying to get fans to watch the mens team at home against Ferris St. Imagine trying to get more than 200 fans to come watch BG womens hockey on saturday at noon during football season.

I would love a womens team but it is not even reasonable to consider talking about it right now.

danny you forgot to add how much rev is being brough in by our wonderfull and all important new logo...and field turf...lol
like I said it would not be instant, but it would be far greater and has far greater apeal and potential and to not do it now is short sighted...much like a company in dire straights cutting research and development first when adversity.

You must have missed the "*" in my post. The "Yeah, yeah, I know" was specific the impending budgetary comments.
