I'll be in the Ice Arena lot no later than 4pm tomorrow. We'll be parked under a parking lot light and I plan on having the Cornhole set out as well. If you can't find us, you may be blind.

I bought 24 hot dogs and 24 burgers tonight, so I should be covered for food. If you want to bring anything else, feel free and please introduce yourself (minus the usual suspects, of course). If things go well (with weather looking absolutely phenomenal for mid-February) I might do this for the Ferris game on Saturday (2/23) as well. No reason we can't make this a tradition for Saturday games.

First, thanks to everyone who braved the wind and stopped out. It was a decent turnout, and hopefully everyone had fun.

Now, my rant.

At 6:20 tonight we got shut down. Apparently someone complained about us grilling. Now, let me explain that we were shut down for the reason of grilling. Not screaming, disturbing the peace, open container, or any other such illegal act. We were grilling up hot dogs and having a couple cold beers (in cups/Cleveland Rule). I've seen people do keg stands, bong beers, smoke pot, piss/crap in between cars, and I've even seen two people having sex. This behavior is ok for football. But, when 10 people are huddled around a grill eating hot dogs and talking BG sports are shut down because we're grilling? That's bullsh*t. I was even told that we had the blessing of a certain Assistant Athletic Director.

I don't know who complained, but if you're attempting to bring exposure to a sport that by all financial standards should have been cut long ago, you don't alienate your best fans. I'm no longer a student here, and pay for my tickets. I spent a hundreds of dollars to go to Mobile to support our football team. Being told that we can't congregate outside of a hockey game really pisses me off, and has definitely made me re-consider whether I'll be buying any more tickets from here on out. I love Falcon hockey, and I'm a very avid supporter of Falcon athletics as a whole. But, when my friends and I get dicked around because we're looked at as a bunch of college students with the potential to cause problems, that pisses me off.

In the past I've just kind of brushed off comments that our athletic department and the University don't have a good working relationship. Now, I'm seeing just how incompetent some of the people we have in charge of something that we all cherish here. I've thought about writing an e-mail to a couple different parties, but I really doubt it'd do any good.

Way to alienate some of your biggest supporters BGSU.

 That's really horrible! I saw all of you out there around 5:30 (I have to get there that early to get the glass seats I want), but I never expected that to happen. That's horrible. I wonder who would have done that.

It sucked we got shut down. I'm not sure it was a university person who complained. From what the officer said it sounded a lot like some fan complained. I'm not that upset about it, most everyone seemed to be in support of what we were doing, even the police.

So who actually shut it down, or who ORDERED it shut down? I think it should be looked into, and find the answers, and work back thru the chain of command. That is absolutley ridiculous! If it was who I think it was, he needed to be gone a long time ago!!!  :!:

There are only a few choices, as most of the department is in Naples, FL, including the AD.

The police rolled bye a couple times and were real friendly. The third time he came back he said someone made a complaint and they had to ask us to stop.

The point is, someone in the athletic department, had to be the one to say "shut it down", I would think.

Why? This could have been the same as when your old cranky lady next door calls the police because you're playing the music too loud.

I've been told that this shouldn't be an issue anymore at any level. The proper people are going to be contacted and as long as things don't get out of hand (which they never did nor will they) we are more than welcome to continue to do this.

I saw you all out there but was scheduled to sell Chuck-a-puck so couldn't join. That's the pits someone axed the tailgate were they afraid concessions wouldn't make their $$$$ that night? You try to do something to bring people together & they potentially lose fans ok @ football but it's a whole lot colder before hockey to tailgate did somebody forget to invite somebody? or they assumed too much (a**u me) can't tell who's under all the layers

I plan on being out there Saturday. I'll bring the grill again and the leftover frozen burgers (the hot dogs were a casualty, but I have some Cheddar Wurst). I'll also have plenty of extra cups this time as well. The weather looks to be a lot warmer than last time with highs in the 40s.
