I agree the other quote that is just as stupid is " the name on the front is whole lot more important than the name on the back"

Are you drunk? A "sister kisser" is a hell of a lot different than your quote. Your quote is used to express the team aspect of the game. Which is exactly what's happening on the ice.

I've been saying for a long time the shootout needs to go. If the powers that be want zero ties, play 20 minute sudden death overtimes just like in the playoffs. Why put an entire game on very few people, namely the goalie. The guys in front of him are what makes this team what they are. The team defense has improved a hell of a lot in just the past few years. Why take the team idea out of deciding who wins or loses?

A team is made of individuals who sacrifice for each other. It matters not what the name on front maybe, its all about the names on the backs, thats team sport.
in the end the shoot out must go DB your right.

In other news, I got a speeding ticket on the way home Saturday night. A little too quick accelerating out of West Millgrove.

Ok, even *I* have managed to keep off the books in West Milgrove :)

How is that on your way home, anyway?

quickest route to Tiffin, if you're not pulled over

I'm always cool when going through WM and Bascom, just got on it too quickly exiting the village. They have one of those 50mph buffer zones between the 35 in town and 55 on 199.

Nobody commented on the Saturday night game against Minnesota State. Thoughts?

There wasn't a whole lot to be said. We get beat pretty good.

The team really has to bear down now with ND coming back in for 2.

I don't get the hatred for shootouts. People act like they're determining the winner by holding a sack race or something. It's still hockey, and it's damn exciting. The coaches and players know about the rule, so there's ample time to prepare for it. It's a part of the game just like anything else. You guys really want teams to have the potential to play a couple of extra periods on Friday night and then come back and play Saturday?

I get the purist argument, but I really don't understand why this is such a hot-button issue. As long as it doesn't show up in the playoffs, I love me some shootouts.

I thought the boys played a good, physical first period. Minnesota State definatley came with a more physical game on Saturday night. It seemed like when the second period hit, we kinda ran out of gas. I thought Jimmy was outstanding both nights, the 4th goal I honestly didn't see because there was so much traffic in front of the net. And the 3rd goal (breakaway, I do believe) wasn't his fault. He made the initial save, but one of their players was right there to follow it up. That was a very good team we played last weekend. That's why they're ranked in the top 10 in the country. The between the legs pass by Kyle Page on Saturday night was just sick! I wouldn't recommend doing it too often, but it was amazing to see. Hopefully, with the coming weekend off, they can get some rest and come out fresh against the Irish. We have to be able to hang an "L" on them one of these years!

I agree with J4H. Except for a great finish to the 2nd period Friday being wasted away with a potential shootout loss, there's such an empty feeling anymore with players skating off the ice to a tie. Felt like the spring game or something.

Would you be in favor of:

Settling tied baseball games with a round of home run derby?
A game of HORSE instead of OT in basketball?
Punt, Pass and Kick contest to break tied football games?

Shootouts make about the same sense as any of these.

Horse would be awesome. You would rather watch 5 more minutes of boring basketball as opposed to a game of horse between Kobe and Gilbert Arenas?

Home run derby, only if a real pitcher pitches, and you would have to assign score zones for how deep the ball went, as barely any homers would be hit..

Punt pass and kick would be lame, but that's nowhere near a decent analogy. College overtime would be the better analogy, and I love college overtime.

The top two lines were run ragged. Oddly, it was the third line that kept us in the game Friday night, but the top two were still seeing way to much ice time both nights. By the middle of the second period on Saturday they had nothing left to give. The third and fourth lines need to see more time on the ice if we want anything left in the tank from the top two at the end of the games. I've not seen anything yet that shows that the 3rd and 4th lines are a detriment when they're on the ice. They're lack of a significant amount of ice time is baffling.
