That leaves us, WMU, Lake State, and Ferris.

The CCHA could invite RMU, Niagara, and UAH to join. That would help us because of location. It would basically move us to a third tier league, but at least the conference would be saved. If the WCHA expands more, we are in trouble. It would make no sense to include us with the other northern schools. Regardless, 1500 fans at a home game will be the norm.

Based on the lack of anything coming out of the CCHA offices, I think they're just pissing down their leg.

The more time goes by the more I think a merger of what's left of the WCHA and CCHA would be a good thing. I could see that lineup being a midwestern version of the ECAC. Maybe not as prestigious as Hockey East and the Big 10 but still capable of putting together top programs and competing on a national level.

You seem to be forgetting that the WCHA is now plucking teams FROM the CCHA. They are now in the catbird seat and can and will determine which CCHA teams get in.rood wrote:The more time goes by the more I think a merger of what's left of the WCHA and CCHA would be a good thing. So what we know for sure is that after the dust settles the WCHA will have:
Alaska Anchorage
Bemidji State
Michigan Tech
Minnesota State
St Cloud State
It's not clear to me how they have an upper hand over the remaining CCHA teams in designing the future. Other than the fact that CCHA leadership is ineffective.
It would seem to make sense from geography and scheduling that the remaining WCHA and CCHA teams would merge into a conference. It would also seem logical that Air Force would leave the Atlantic conference and join said conference.

The Air Force thing comes up all the time but I don't see them moving unless Army goes with them. That rivalry is why they joined that conference in the first place.

Credible rumors [also reported the "super conference"] have that Northern Michigan and Alaska Fairbanks are likely to move to the WCHA. That is how they have the upper hand.Lord_Byron wrote:So what we know for sure is that after the dust settles the WCHA will have:

Better make a move sooner rather than later...it's going to be hard to get the program back on the map if it's mired in a "leftovers leaguye"

Or maybe the CCHA is actively working on a solution, has the wheels in motion, and does not want to make anything public until they have everything locked down as far as who the new members of the conference are going to be.Rightupinthere wrote: Meanwhile the masters of the CCHA are seemingly saying, "let's just wait for the dust to settle......"

That's possible, but with other leagues announcing new members that have been picked off from the CCHA, it certainly looks like they're not being proactive.transfer2BGSU wrote:Or maybe the CCHA is actively working on a solution, has the wheels in motion, and does not want to make anything public until they have everything locked down as far as who the new members of the conference are going to be.Rightupinthere wrote: Meanwhile the masters of the CCHA are seemingly saying, "let's just wait for the dust to settle......"

Transfer, I respect you and your inside knowledge but I see nothing coming out of even the AHA in the way of rumor.
Granted [or 'granite' if your handle starts with 'b' and ends in 'irdman'], they could be very good at keeping things quiet but I find that unlikely in the heat of this news storm.

From Jason Knavel via Twitter....
Been talking a lot with Greg Christopher and Chris Bergeron about the shifting hockey landscape. Trust me -- BGSU hockey will THRIVE.
Soooooooo..... we got that going for us....

And its great that the AHA isn't getting caught up in rumor mongering. No need to get all worked up about a rumor that may not be true.

Re: How would a "Super League" Affect BGSU
In regards to Knavels tweet......not likely. Typical of this administration, put out spin to cover for the fact that we are behind the eight ball and now panicking to find a conference.
