Empty netter for Ferris........... 4 - 2

A weekend of what ifs. Have to learn to play with a lead and close the game. Not looking to kill clock but to have the killer instinct to score again and again and again. We are lacking that right now. We are close and on the brink of greatness.

See you at the Ice Arena on Friday

This weekend you saw the difference between a program that is used to winning and one that is not.

When teams are accustomed to being successful, they don't panic when behind and find ways to win. When teams aren't used to winning, they get edgy when ahead against good teams and often find ways to lose games they should not.

I think BG is very close to turning this around, but it takes time to erase all those bad years where losing became ingrained into the program. How they respond to this weekend will tell us a lot about this team.

Agree. Especially since it's against a team we just played!
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

I was collecting my thoughts about this weekend's series, and was just ready to post them when I read BGWriter's post. Almost word-for-word what I was thinking.

Unfortunately, I've learned this lesson the hard way: by being a fan of several teams that have gotten themselves mired into the cycle of losing, and are trying to break that cycle. BG hockey isn't even one of those that I am thinking about, so you know my favorite sports teams haven't done too well of late (well, some of them).

Browns...Indians...Blue Jackets.

And my college basketball team hasn't sniffed the NCAA in something like 45 years. Imagine that!

It's a wonder I don't give up on sports; or at least drink more. :partyman:
