Looked like a lot more than that.

May have been a perfect storm regarding out of conference games for Pairwise rankings.............but I have a tough time believing they are taking 3 teams from the WCHA for the NCAA tournament. Money talks and the WCHA doesn't have money teams in the conference.
Re: Friday vs. LSSU
Please seek some professional help to overcome your obvious sense of insecurity and paranoia. There is no conspiracy to tilt the tournament selection in favor of the "money teams". This isn't football or bouncyball. The selection committee has strict guidelines based on established, objective criteria. If 3 or even 4 WCHA teams end the season within those criteria, they'll make the field.unfalconbelievable wrote:May have been a perfect storm regarding out of conference games for Pairwise rankings.............but I have a tough time believing they are taking 3 teams from the WCHA for the NCAA tournament. NOW GET BACK ON TRACK AND BEAT THE LAKERS!!
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

A: Agree the crowd looked bigger than that. Plenty of empty seats in my section (D) but the rest of the arena looked pretty full.
B: our young team better learn to focus. Splitting series was OK when we played good teams, but they can't afford a Friday night loss as a "warmup" game. Friedman played OK but without his usual fire. I was OK going without a couple senseless penalties, but it was clear to me he wasn't playing as hard as usual.
C: Having said that the upperclassmen didn't exactly light the world on fire. Mingo and Berkle in particular had a rough night. Still have faith those two guys in particular will bounce back from it though.
D: Unfalconbelievable, are you going to doubt the falcons get a berth, or the wcha gets three, right up to the moment it happens?
One of the things I love about college hockey is the playoff selection criteria are set and fair. Every team and conference has a fair shot at it. If you argued that they'll try to change the criteria in the future it might make sense, right now you don't.

come back and talk to us when mich state, the bucknuts, notre dame, and wisconsin are more relevant in hockey than BGSU, mankato, tech, mass-lowell, quinnipiac, vermont, colgate...

So was tate's 10 minute penalty because he threw his broken stick into the crowd? Or was he yapping at the ref?
Bring back the glory!

Re: Friday vs. LSSU
RELAX I'm well aware of how the Pairwise Rankings work............... Been a season ticket holder longer then some of you have been alive so as Aaron Rogers say RELAX
The NCAA is in this to make money that's all I'm saying, and I wouldn't trust a lot of their decisions. Agreed hockey is not the money spot Football is having proven small teams have had success.

Re: Friday vs. LSSU
Tates penalty was for throwing his stick in the crowd. Pretty bad decision in the heat of the moment, although I'm sure the Creatures loved it.
As much as i dislike the NCAA, I'm Not sure what there is not to trust. Multiple news sites mimic the pairwise. If they played with the selection process you can bet someone would be on top of it in an instant. That'd be a pretty big scoop for somebody!

Re: Friday vs. LSSU
Tate's penalty is what it is. Stupid, frustrating, nitpicking by the referee, choose whichever you want to call it. There was a lot of "unsportsmanlike conduct" going on that wasn't called. Slashing a player who is being escorted to the box, grabbing a player by the head and pulling him down after the whistle, etc. Very poor job by the stripes. Did it cost BG the game? Even with all that, you have to come to play. I think it would have really changed the game had the BS been called, but the effort want there to begin with.jbakerifm wrote:Tates penalty was for throwing his stick in the crowd. As for the other argument going on here, well, I'm just gonna leave this here. You interpret it how you want to.
The PairWise Ranking is a system which attempts to mimic the method used by the NCAA Selection Committee to determine participants for the NCAA Division I men's hockey tournament. The PWR compares all teams by these criteria: record against common opponents, head-to-head competition, and the RPI.

Re: Friday vs. LSSU
I didn't feel like that penalty was nitpicking, somewhat dangerous thing to do. How many times do you see a puck go into the crowd and half the people in the area look up like, what just happened? Itd be nice if everyone paid as close a attention to the game as I'm sure all of us do, but that's not the case. I did think they let LSSU get away with a hell of a lot last night. We sure dont get much in the way of calls at home!
On a more positive note I looked up attendance stats and saw they are averaging around 700 more people per game this year than last. Hopefully that number will bump up more with the next few series with the students in town. Also saw that spring break falls on the conference tournament first round weekend again, which sucks
