Two points for a win and one for a tie was fine with me. Ties are fine with me, in hockey and in football. If the NCAA wanted to go back to allowing ties in football, I'd be fine with that.

Crazy Frank was here? Who is he scouting for these days. Saw Buddy here last night too. Forget who he scouts for.

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Defense? The whole reason it's in overtime is for someone to score easily, not to emulate an actual scenario. It's a cheap gimmick that exists solely for fan entertainment.
The additional overtime/shootout was added to cut down on ties that had caused the conference standings to bunch-up. It, along with the obstruction/interference crackdown, were done to open play up and "encourage" teams to not play for the tie.

If ties started getting broken with fastest skater, hardest shot, and players dressing as Chewbacca then yes, that's a skill competition.
