Contract has been on the table since the end of last season. The shock was he came back for this season.

Is there a Swankler watch going on somewhere? I assume if he was signing we'd hear shortly. Radio silence would mean transfer portal. Anybody got insights?

Is there a reason people are assuming he’s 100% gone? Or is it just “he’s good, we suck, why would he stay?”TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Mon Mar 06, 2023 6:14 pm Is there a Swankler watch going on somewhere? I assume if he was signing we'd hear shortly. Just curious if there’s Intel or if we’re just guessing.

Re: Offseason 2023
Based on interviews he's given in the past, IF he doesn't came back it's because of a pro contract. I'll say less than 5% chance he hits the portal. If he does, there's guys going with him as a package deal.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Mon Mar 06, 2023 6:14 pm Is there a Swankler watch going on somewhere? I assume if he was signing we'd hear shortly. Re: Offseason 2023
I know about the interviews, but I'm jaded about that sort of thing. Pearson had unfinished business at Tech then a week later bolted for AA. Eigs is only one of many voices whispering/yelling into his ear right now.
I assume the package would include O'Hara.
And I have zero insights into any of this - 100% guessing/assuming which is why I posted the question hoping some who may be closer to the situation might share something.

But it's nothing to do with "unfinished business." Time wise, BG is the team he has been with the longest in the last 7 years. When asked why he wanted to play college hockey, his answer was he wanted to have the same teammates for more than a year. I obviously don't speak for him, but it certainly appears to be about more than just hockey with him.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Mon Mar 06, 2023 6:41 pm I know about the interviews, but I'm jaded about that sort of thing. I wasn’t trying to argue. I’m hoping you’re right.pdt1081 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 06, 2023 7:20 pmBut it's nothing to do with "unfinished business." Haven't heard anything regarding Swankler.
The longer the walk, the farther you crawl.

If I was them my first call would have a Mankato area code……Badgers are now looking for a new head coach.

Re: Offseason 2023
For as crummy a season it's been for the ccha, there's still a chance to put 3 teams in the national tournament. Northern has to win their way in, and Minnesota State would need some help from the right teams losing. Tech is already a lock since they're so high up in pairwise.

Re: Offseason 2023
Based on pdt's post in the basketball forum, it looks like the Swankler portal watch starts March 20 (tournament selection is the 19th). We then sweat the next 60 days.
I'm surprised he hasn't signed yet.

It seems like no news is good news when it comes to Swankler. But I guess we'll see.
I'd be thrilled to have him back, but I don't expect it.
