Well if it’s another matchup with Tech in the playoffs, the fan base can focus on shoes and not the underachieving coach for the week.

Optimistic post:

If we win tonight, and Tech takes 1 point or less against St. Thomas (who they lost to last night), we will have home ice in the first round.

Pessimistic post:

If we lose tonight, we’re going to either Mankato or Tech next weekend and getting swept.

Congrats to the Beavers for showing how it's done. I just can't bring myself to hate on those guys. Good job.

Beavers clinch the #1 spot, Tommies clinch home ice. It would not be surprising to see both of these teams lose tonight. That would ensure we lock up road ice for the playoffs.

Can you believe that 8 short days ago we were tied for second?

8 short days ago people were tweeting the AD for a contract extension for Eigner.

8 short days ago the fanbase was discussing throwing shoes on the ice if a hat trick happened against Tech. 2 total goals have been scored since.

Big Game Ty strikes again.

The only thing upsetting the league office right now is there's still one first round series that has to be played outside the state of Minnesota.

Tech is up 2-0 in the second so at this point it’s academic. Do we want to win and go to Houghton or lose and go to Mankato assuming, of course, the Mavs win?

Down 1-0 on a nice NMU 2-on-1. Bevalaqua gets a leg-on-leg tripping no call.

Edit: Tech now up 4-0. So that one is over. We lock up road ice. Sigh.

The Tech series totally exposed us. Drop 3 guys back, play aggressive in the neutral zone, and we’re toast. We have no real offense of any kind

Assuming we lose and lock up the 6th seed, our league finishes under Eigner would be 5th, 3rd, 6th, 3rd, 6th. We haven’t won a playoff series since 2020. We were swept at home by Ferris in the first round last year. We lost in 3 at Bemidji in the first round in 2022. We lost in 3 at home against NMU in the first round in 2021. 3 straight losing seasons, this one the worst of the bunch. Having our worst season when the CCHA as a whole is THIS bad is a huge red flag.

I just… It’s just not good enough, man. I love the players. I love Ty as a man, and he has been a faithful alumnus. But this just cannot be what we accept as the standard for this program.

6th place finish. Swept in the last two series though tonight’s game wasn’t a bad one. Stoever played well enough to win and aside from giving up the 2x1 the defense was decent. But scoring 2 goals in 12 periods will make you go “hmmm.”
