Sorry, I have to disagree with you on this one. The only market we bring is NW Ohio, and considering how we draw about 1500-2500 fans per game, I don't think the WCHA's current members are going to be all that excited about having to fly in to play us. I haven't heard BG mentioned once by anyone as a specific team that is being talked about joining a league (other than bloggers who are just listing scenarios). If we go independent, it won't matter if Scotty Bowman is the coach, there will be a zero percent chance of suceeding at making the NCAA tournament.

You know Drago, has any of your friends told you that being around you for more than say, 1 minute, is likely to make one want to slit their wrists. The way you talk, your whole existence must really suck! ](*,)

Like it or not, he/she/it does speak the truth. It's a very dicey time for BG hockey and we may find ourselves going hat in had to the AHA hoping that another member would join to maintain even numbers.

It's possible that the CCHA will be left with only two teams when all this shakes out.

It's imperative to improve the hockey program in wins and attendance this year. If we don't, the five years after that will be exceedingly long.

Lots of interesting comments. I may be a Pollyanna, but I see us coming out much stronger in a few years in a new (or remodeled) league. I think a merger of the remnants of the CCHA and the AHA would be good for college hockey. I wish Miami well, but there's no way I'd want to be a part of the NCHC and I'm just afraid that their delusions of grandeur will come back to bite them unless the athletic pockets down there are much deeper than I think. Attendance ... I've always been surprised that we could outdraw men's basketball even with the W-L records we've had in recent years. Get things back on the winning track and watch the average get closer to 4,000 than 2,000. Drago, our presence is much greater than NW Ohio. When I wear a BG cap across the country the thing that people mention is hockey. Although now long-in-the-tooth, the aura of the '80 Olympics and the '84 championship still linger. That said, we can't afford to wait much longer in reestablishing our reputation as a national contender and as a pathway to the NHL. As everyone else, I'm anxious to see what shakes out of this mess but I really feel that we will be fine as we keep our focus on rebuilding what we have and not worrying too much about things that we can't control.

I don't like to normally agree with Drago, but he's perspective isn't that far off and he's doing a good job of playing devils advocat. Drago is right tho about one thing, no one is clamouring for BGSU to join their conference and the only program receiving less attention right now in this mess is UAH. I still believe BG hockey will live on, but it's becoming more clear that the past is the past and the "history" and "tradition" BGSU brings to the table doesn't mean much when dollars and cents are all that seem to matter to the other conferences and it's members. I still believe the program can be a success and compete for NCAA tournament spots given the right conference shake down and break down but I fear the pipe dream of battling the big boys for FF championships and all that comes with it is just that.....a dream 8-[

+1 Agree 100%!!! And joehockey, no way is it a pipe dream. If anyone who makes decisions for that team and program believed that, our program would have died two years ago.

Bowling Green has a hockey team.

Bowling Green hockey has monetary, and fan support whether that is in the stands or a continent away like myself for work.

Bowling Green hockey has what seems like a strong coach, some updates in the arena, and over 5,000 views on this one blog post section alone, along with some pretty talented young men(our hockey players) moving to one of the greatest schools I have ever been associated with where they will live and play hockey.

If the players for BG and coaches ever read any of this I want them (you guys) to know that they (you) have a strong fan base, you have many great alums associated with program who support them (you), and be careful what you read on here(this one goes to everyone).

From the guy who still has his same seats for season tickets in the arena even though I live a continent away ( I hope I can make it back during my vacation to sit in my seats this season), GO BGSU Hockey! Kick the crap out of every team you play or at the least do the best you can as you represent our great university.

Go Falcon Hockey and Go BGSU!

Interesting re-alignment senario proposed by D1Hockey.com:
http://www.d1hockey.com/

It certainly makes sense geographically, but to be in the Big Ten Conference??? Ugh, I know I wouldn't like saying we're in THAT league!!!

I can't imagine UMass and Lowell wanting to downgrade so far out of Hockey East.
I love people who can laugh at themselves. It saves me the effort.

Falcons86....not nice...lol

I don't think the Big 10 will be extending us an invitation anytime soon. At least they included us..unless I'm missing something they don't even have Ferris St. on there.

Agree with Drago. I don't see the Big Ten forming a new league only to invite "lesser" members (with the exception of the Irish). There are some other big holes in that scenario too. That alignment list is pure speculation.

Yup, that's what it is...just speculation and I really do NOT see the Big Pretend extending any invitations to us either. I did however, find it amusing that I saw OUR name in that conference list! :-D
