BGFan wrote:FWIW - Cepis is listed at 5'7", not 5'4". It amazes me how former players can talk down about new recruits. You say you want the team to succeed and yet, when we bring in a new guy who is scoring big time in the USHL, you talk him down because of his size.

From what I understand, you made a current player that was suppose to come in last year so uncomfortable when he was here over the summer, he stayed in the USHL one more year just so he didn't have to play with you. How's that for a warm and fuzzy?

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that there aren't problems right now, and I'm not saying that coaching isn't one of them, but several of you certainly didn't help matters any with your attitudes.
I am guessing that you are referring to TM. I would check your sources on this one. First of all, he was not ready for the intense training at the college level (ex. he could not even bench the bar). Nobody ran him out of here, he just wasn't ready. Also, here's a quote from him: "I am on the 2-year program." 2-years at BG, and then go pro. It must be hard to be that humble.

Officially the worst

Post by bulldog85 »

Scott Paluch has become the worst coach in BGSU Hockey history. Only Paluch and Buddy Powers have losing records, Paluch the worst of all.

1969 - 1973
Coach: Jack Vivian

Games: 129
Wins: 68
Losses: 53
Ties: 8

1973 - 1979
Coach: Ron Mason

Games 234
Wins: 160
Losses: 68
Ties: 6

1979 -1994
Coach: Jerry York

Games: 619
Wins: 340
Losses: 248
Ties: 31

1994 – 2002
Coach: Buddy Powers

Games: 310
Wins: 135
Losses: 149
Ties: 26

2002 – 2007
Coach: Scott Paluch *

Games: 178
Wins: 53
Losses: 105
Ties: 20

* As of the past weekend. Two of Paluch’s five seasons have been the worst in the history of the BGSU hockey program, his 1st and this season.

Could it be the COACH?

Am I to assume that all of you set him straight in the most tactful way possible? I mean, given the fact that the only class that was mentioned were the seniors, one has to wonder.

Two years huh. I'd like to see it.

However misguided the young man might be here, its almost refreshing to see someone with some confidence in themself. I figure he'll learn otherwise pretty quick, but it would be good to see more guys expect more out of themselves.

BGFan- you don't know what you are talking about. 5'7 ya right, I have stood beside the guy and trust me that is very generous, very generous. Jr. Kids lie on thier player profiles to look more attractive to scouts. enough said.
Second- why don't you look and see how many people on the team currently like this player you are speaking of, and I know who it is. Cockyness is not a quality I prefer to be around. Also what shanefalco stated earlier about he wasn't ready could not have been more true. I have seen some pretty embarrassing performances in the weightroom but this surpassed them all. If the kid isn't strong enough to bench the bar, how good is he going to be in the corners.

I've been impressed by the guy. He reminds me a lot of what Svends was last year and that whenever he's on the ice he goes full speed till the end of the shift.

The point made about the kid's physical strength (or total lack there of) is well taken, but what does liking him have to do with anything. A dominant theme I hear with some of you guys is "I don't like him". Maybe I'm naive but I'd like to think that a hockey team could be successful without everyone being best friends.

Incidently, who do you like?

FWIW, I grew another inch after I hit college and I also gained about 20 pounds. Some people grow at different rates. When you saw him he was all of 17. He's now 20. Have you seen him lately? Can you tell me that he's the same size now as he was when you saw him?

Not liking a player is not the point to the other argument, nor was whether or not he was physically ready. If he's going to be your teammate, which at the time it looked like he was, then, to me, at the very least tolleration was in order. From the sounds of it, that never even came close to happening.

Also, as was said earlier, he ALWAYS looks like he's one of the hardest working guys on the ice from the beginning to the end of every one of his shifts. Yes, he makes mistakes, but he's gotten better as the year has gone on. He's a lot of fun to watch, and his eagerness and love for the game seem genuine. And, although I can't say what he's like in the locker room, having talked to him on several occasions I can't say that he's ever come across as cocky. In fact, he's quick to point out the mistakes he made while on the ice.

Why don't we just give the kid a chance to play before we write him off. There are all different size kids playing college hockey. He's about 5'6"or 5'5", and he can bench the bar. Let him play the game and let him decide whether or not his size will be a major factor.

He has run this program into the ground, and the damage is way beyond repair. Anybody who disagrees with this assertion simply needs to look at the record we've had during his tenure, especially in the postseason.
You have the idea of being a fan all wrong, as far as I can tell. We win and being a fan is great! We lose and being a fan sucks so screw it. Like I said, bandwagon. True fans are there despite the record. They feel the elation and depression nearly as strongly as the players themselves. Fans like you are nowhere to be found when the players need you the most.
Absolutely BG FAN, absolutely. Well said.

I just do not understand! Paluch has all of his own recruits and this is where our program is. What will be his excuse this year? I would love to hear everyone's opinion on this.

I have one question for everyone:

Should he still be our head coach or should he be fired?

gee maybe it was the fact we started more freshmen than other team this year due to injuries, the ebola virus and acts of God.

Not hard to see the proof in the pudding vs ND and MI when we had nearly all the boys back is it.
the future is now, and Pooch is getting it done...BRINGING BACK THE WINNING TRADITION THAt IS FALCON HOCKEY

personally I blame the marketing dept for losses in all of our sports by creating that GAY AS HELL REDHAWK KNOCK OFF!!!!

I think next year, we're deffinitely a .500+ hockey club with all the experience gained by the young guys as well as the confidence jimmy has found

It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. I think he's referring to the bar at Howard's. My grandma could pull a bench up to the bar and then lift with the best of them.
