I guess I'm tring to understand why you haven't grasped the concept that in facility built for varsity athletes, they get priority usage. Next time, if you want to use it, pay for the time like everyone else that reserves it (intramurals and club sports pay to use the facility).
Good lord son, stop making sense! How do you expect to get anywhere in life by thinking things out and applying logic to the problem?

And I utterly fail to see what bgsufalcon24 getting booted off the turf in the field house has to do with hockey.

This thread had more to do with football than hockey in the first place, so what does it matter? It was a good thread to hijack. 8)

Anyway, all of you seem to view Perry Fieldhouse as purely a varsity athletic facility, and I don't see it that way at all. To me, its no different from the rec. Any BGSU student should be able to use the facility as long as it isn't expressly reserved by an organization or team(s).

As for the question of how the fieldhouse turf is, its not bad. There are a few spots where the turf goes a bit bare, but outside that its in really good shape.

My problem with you having a problem about the field house regulations is that you did not have the field house reserved, you and your buddies just walked in and played because no one else was there. If you had the turf room reserved that is a different story, but just walking in without reservation gives you no right to be there over a varsity sport. A varsity sport being able to practice is more important to the university and fieldhouse than your unsanctioned internural football league. Sorry, but the soccer team and fieldhouse employees did no wrong. And if you think going on a tirade on the employees who just inforce the rules that they are instructed with to use will help your chances in the future, you are wrongly mistaken, my friend.

I don't know if the field at the Doyt is wide enough. The stadium crowds in a bit in the corners. That's a good thing for football fans, but I'm guessing it would make the pitch less than regulation.

I think it is VERY clear for whom and why the Fieldhouse was constructed..... and unregistered activities such as your's is not one of them.........

"Given the expanding number of intercollegiate teams and the increasing popularity of intramural and club sports at the University, the university administrators approved plans for the construction of a brand new facility specifically for use by those groups. Indeed, since its completion in 1992, the Field House has provided a home to many Health and Physical Education classes, off-season training programs of intercollegiate sports teams, and a site for practice and competitions for intramural and club sports at the university."

It is NOT a student rec center. Your logic would lead us to believe that you could go into a classroom, decide to have an impromptu group study session, and then be able to deny access to the faculty and class who are scheduled to use that space.

Some day you will look back on this incident and you will not be very proud of your conduct. The field house management team should ban you for at least a year. Plus your conduct could jeopardize the use by other students.

It could work and has worked. I have seen the Bowling Green Falcons take on the Akron Zips in soccer on the natural grass at Doyt L. Perry Field, when it was still University Stadium, in about 1988 or 1989.

It meets the minimum width regulations, it would be a smaller width field than most would prefer, but that woudl actually be good for hosting high school soccer.

With that edit I agree Tech. I was thinking of a library computer lab analogy to use, but this one works perfect.

Well you've definently flip-flopped your position in last few months. When we initially talked about this event, you said that the soccer team was greatly inconsiderate for just barging in like they did. Now just because everybody else disagrees with me you're changing your position. Thanks for nothing.

You're an asshole. Ban me for at least a year?! For going in and playing on the turf room and raising a stink about a team barging in on us?!! That's like sentencing a person to life in prison for stealing a candy bar.

I'm sorry, but I just don't think I can take any more bullshit on this message board. I'm outta here. You people are insane.

Because when you first told me about it you gave me the impression that you had the turf room reserved for that time slot. Now that I fugured out the truth of the matter, I am definetly going to change my stance because having it reserved and just walking in to play are two different worlds. And also you didnt tell me that you threw a tantrum in the matter you did. Maybe if you were to give me the full information on exactly what happened the first time, maybe I wouldnt have been so nieve to think that the soccer team was in the wrong. Thanks for leading me on.

You freely admitted the campus police where going to be called and don't expect some sort of reaction by the field house management?

Well, I freely admit to be an a$$....Just ask Bleeding Orange or TG.

This whole story reminds me of.....

"Well my friend Sweet Jay took me to that video arcade in town, right, and they don't speak English there, so Jay got into a fight and he's all, "Hey quit hasslin' me cuz' I don't speak French" or whatever! And then the guy said something in Paris talk, and I'm like, "Just back off!" And they're all, "Get out!" And we're like, "Make me!" It was cool"

I was trying to stay out of this, but I think it's time for me to remind you how classy you are. :?

I think it's great that you took it upon yourself to organize such a large group of students into a football league. I think it's probably pretty crappy that you got asked to leave, but those are the rules, blurry as they may be, and while you certainly have the right to voice your displeasure, it sounds like you threw an obscene little hissy fit and probably made the decision to get you out of there a lot easier than it already was. A few questions about "okay, when can we be assured to have this room for X hours" might have opened any number of doors. You have no one to blame but yourselves for lashing out at the administration of the Fieldhouse.

Oh, and don't let the door hit ya on the way out.

Thank you for all the discussion about the soccer team and the fieldhouse.

7 years ago we said "get Buddy an arena to which he can attract the top talent". Do not get me wrong I like football, but in the the last 7 years what has been spent on football and what on hockey?? Football got lights, a scoreboard and now new turf; Hockey got some new lights, and boards.

We celebrate the NCAA championship by MSU in the CCHA. Some of us also look back about 15 years, BG and MSU were at a fork in the road. MSU said hockey is very important and backed the program ( $$$ ),
it appears that BGSU said "not so much".
MSU now has another National Championship, BGSU has been at the bottom of the league for the last 2 years.

Some people have said that we need a differant coach, no sense discussing that. Some people think that we need a new arena, usually I disagree. If we can get the roof fixed then we just need a few modifications. Compressors, coolers, 2nd sheet of ice, locker rooms,
sound system. concessions, bathrooms. With some modifications to the ice arena building the baseball, softball and tennis teams could have real offices, locker rooms and indoor batting facilities.

I am sure that I am not the only one that wants something done. Greg Christopher has said that Hockey is very important, I believe the man.
Yes I realize that $ 10 million is a big number. We would like the University, City of BG, the State, and private enterprises to please come together to get this done.

Like Flipper I will make my contribution.

Good post, Puckhead.

The only (and ONLY) thing I would disagree with is that Michigan State is in a much different position than BG to be able to fund hockey, making that decision much easier.

But like you, I just want to see something get done so BG hockey can be back on the map.
