Yes, I know UM is closer than ND, but the CCHA isn't stupid either, they will not break up that pairing.
It could be worse. Notre Dame is at least a bigger name school and with their resurgence, it gives our team an opportunity to knock off a top-10 opponent 4 times a year.
How boring would it be to play Ferris or LSSU four times a year, every year?
The funniest part about the OSU-Miami "rivalry" right now, is that the Miami fans on Hawk Talk are all referring to OSU as 0-5-U, as Ohio State was 0-5 vs Miami this past season.

Total facial.

I prefer it the way it is. It's only about 1h15 to travel b/w BG & Ann Arbor and it's nice to get to see those goons in our building once every year. I also enjoy making the trip up to Yost, so it's nice to have that guaranteed too.
I always assumed that the league makes the schedule. Then I got an ounce of sense and realized the league probably didn't schedule nonleague games. Then I concluded that coaches have discretion to juggle games, but within the league-specified schedule. That's how we get a home-and-home with UM instead of home and away series in alternate years.

Now I don't know what to think. What does the league do in regard to scheduling games? I can't picture each team scheduling its own season. "Enrico, this is Scott. How about the second weekend in November?" "Scott, I'm working on a series with Michigan. Lemme call Red and then call you back."

Does the league say only that these teams are playing on these dates and let the schools work out where?

How much money is involved? (I'm as shocked as you at the possibility that money influences the schedule. :-D ) If BG is supposed to play UM twice at home, does BG get money from UM if BG agrees to a home-and-home?

No money or guarantee is exchanged in the scheduling of league games. Guarantees usually occur in non league games where there is no return trip. Say BG goes and plays at North Dakota in 2009-10, and North Dakota isn't going to make a return trip at a later date, BG will most likely get some type of guarantee. If North Dakota was to come and play at BG the following year, there would probably not be a guarantee.

Eugh, I think I'm slightly behind in actually looking at which days belong to these dates... since I'm an RA I have to schedule duty nights ahead of time and I was putting these in my planner so I would have all of them off... I realized 4 of the home games for fall semester (there aren't many others) are on break days. Two on Fall Break and two during Thanksgiving break. That's going to suck.
