I've heard there is some division between the players as to if it is best to renovate or build new. Not sure how that may play into things.

These guys have done very well in their careers, but even so, I'm not sure how many have the raw cash to lay down the fat green like Kirm Stroh did. Most are still young, certainly not normal retirement age, and more than a few were not the giga-buck earners or earned in a lower paying time.

You would have to unite them all to get a big 8 million dollar donation collectively. Thus, the odds are they are better used for hitting the practical stuff within the project.

How fast would the old players sign on if they announced the "The Terry Flanagan Memorial Arena"?

I think that is a very worthy idea on many levels. It takes ego and politics out of the process and centers the effort on honoring a person whose life and death hugely impacted BGSU hockey. I'm not sure any players of any generation don't know who he is, and the focus on him as the namesake of the project would give some momentum that otherwise is much harder to generate with the low state of the program.

Rood - great suggestion Tery Flanagan would be a great name.

How about the "Orel Hershiser Baseball Offices" in the renovated
Hockey / Baseball / Softball sports facility?

Has a much nicer ring to it too, compared with "BGSU Ice Arena". I am totally in favor of that idea, and if I had the fat stacks like the Strohs, I would donate to that in a second

Only if Hershiser donated the bucks....it's my understanding that to date, he hasn't donate a dime to BGSU....Not sure if that is still true, but I'm pretty sure it was a few years ago.

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."
