We're getting the CCHA back AND doughnut pie?!?! What an exciting time to be a Falcon!
Re: Arizona State?
First, the players don't really care where they end up going on road trips. They only have a few hours of free time on the trips and they're locked to wherever the bus is going. It's not like they're going to duck out to go exploring the city.
Second, like it has already been posted before, getting WMU and Miami back aren't really a concern. They're both on our schedule for the foreseeable future so getting back together with them in a conference isn't that big of a deal.
Now, you add RIT, Robert Morris, Niagara, and Mercyhurst to the fray with BG, WMU, Miami, and Ferris State and you just might have a decent new CCHA. But, the Atlantic Hockey schools would need to go up to a full 18 scholarship system before that would even be a discussion. With the MAC giving out cost of attendance once passed by the NCAA it will create a bigger divide between the haves and have nots.
Finally, Notre Dame is never going to be in a conference with schools like BG, Western Michigan, and Ferris State ever again. They made that very clear when they snubbed a much easier/cheaper travel schedule to join Hockey East.

Things change. Notre Dame is currently 6-6-1 and in sixth place. Last year they finished seventh. If they continue to falter in Hockey East who knows what will happen? Trips to the east coast for every league away game can get old quickly.
