Better check that PWR again. St loud and Minnesota both leap frogged us...we're now showing #13

I think we need ONE more win to sew up an at large bid...TWO more wins would be better!

St. Cloud has to win one game next weekend to be eligible. If they lose twice they'll be below .500. Also, Robert Morris will likely win the AHA which takes away an at-large bid for someone. Need to root for Minnesota to win the B1G tourney too. I think BG will be alright even if they lose to Tech.

Pretty poor sportsmanship from northern tonight. Especially with my 6 year old having a front row view of two of the three dirty deeds (the water bottle bounced in front of us, and Friedman head hit the boards at our feet. Thank God he's OK, that was one hell of a shot in the head). As happy as we were with the sweep, we still stopped on the way out of the arena and talked about why that should never happen, no matter how upset you are.

Having said that, what a series. Heck of a way for the seniors to go out.

Watched the game on TV....in addition to the stuff you mentioned one of their guys tried to go knee on knee on...I think it was Walker maybe...earlier in t he third. Next to a slew foot, knee to knee an the kind of hit Friedman took are the most dangerous plays in hockey. Not a very disciplined team from what I could see
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

After the rest of last nights games we jumped back up to #11 in PWR...not sure why we dropped to 13 for a couple of hours,,,but that changes everything. Even with a loss to Tech we should be OK.

But what the heck, just win baby!

Maybe we got a boost from Ferris's late win?

Possibly. With Ferris sweeping Bemidji it may have bumped us up due to our taking 3 of 4 from Ferris.

Just an observation but after NMU scored their first goal I felt like we kicked it up a couple of notches. We looked like the team in the first half of the season! Hopefully we can maintain that intensity! Assuming we make it to the NCAA playoffs there is a good chance that we'll play Miami in the first round. How could we possibly need more inspiration than that?

According to the WCHA website, BG is the only school to win a playoff series in each of the last five years.

Just saw that Nowick (NMU) received a major and DQ for his check from behind on Friedman. Normally he'd be suspended the next game, but Northern doesn't have a next game :) :)

But I'm curious, does that suspension carry over to next season?

Yes. He will serve it the first NCAA game next season. There's still a possibility of the league stepping in and adding another game or two.

Considering the blatant nature of the hit and the game situation I'd be shocked if WCHA didn't pile on additional sanctions. I just watched it on-line (didn't have a good line on it last night). ...that was a horrible hit, textbook example of why CFB deserves major and dq.

The player who threw the water bottle is a senior, and the one who received the DQ is a junior. I would hardly consider them younger guys.

It will be interesting to see if anything more comes from this game. I get the frustration that led to the water bottle incident. The coaches and bench were trying to get a timeout. How the ref closest to them didn't hear to turn around and call it is beyond me. At the same time, their players on the ice didn't hear it and took the faceoff. I don't think it would have changed the outcome of the game, but it's no excuse for throwing things on the ice.
