3-3 after 3, free hockey coming up. We’ll leave with at least a point.

Blatant holding call, we’ll finish OT on the PP.

90% of the time, that goes 1 and 1... at least when the roles are reversed.

At least we salvaged a point.

We’ll head into the off weekend licking our wounds a bit, then a quick glance ahead at the schedule tells us it could be time to build some confidence in these upcoming games.

vs. 4-12-0 Ferris State (x2)
@/vs. 8-4-0 Ohio State
vs. 11-5-0 Providence (Milwaukee)
vs. 4-10-1 Wisconsin OR 1-6-0 Yale (Milwaukee)
@ 1-15-0 St. Thomas (x2)

I'd almost rather us lose in OT then watch our penalty shot unit execute. Exhibit A why the offense struggles, no creativity and average speed equals......play to 3 is the winner.

NMU just knocked off #1 Duluth. Beat ‘em fair and square. Duluth wants to skate instead of clutch/grab so Northern had all sorts of room to skate. No trouble whatsoever breaking out of their own end. Maintained extended o-zone time throughout all three periods.

CCHA teams can hang with the Nachos.

Northern just swept Duluth. Neither win was a fluke.

We couldn't play with them or Minnesota State either night, from what I've seen that puts us minimum 3rd.

But that does help the out of conference strength of schedule for the league.

Duluth's top two goalies were not available for the Northern Michigan series so they were facing their 3rd goalie who had not seen any game action before this weekend.

I thought Northern was better in all three zones both nights. So while there had to be some impact from the top two guys being out, it didn’t feel like goaltending cost Duluth both games.
