We deserve another road trip to Bemidji.
2-time BGSU Intramural Curling Champion.

I've listened to Bill Crawford and his pal a number of times over the years. They call a good game and give credit where it's due, but they whine about the officiating.BGhockeyfan94 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 26, 2022 7:41 pm These announcers are getting very annoying. Everything we do should be a penalty in their eyes and everything they do is a bad call and not fair ...

Seems likely to be ugly.

"Indirect contact to the head, boarding." And how many players have had concussions this season?

The inconsistency in officiating has been pretty consistent all year. Looks like the elbow came flying up and hit him in the back of the head. We've seen worse things called a 5 minute major.pdt1081 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 27, 2022 10:20 am "Indirect contact to the head, boarding." And how many players have had concussions this season?

Re: @ Lake Superior State (2/25-2/26)
I admittedly have somewhat given up on watching this team with complete attention for the year, so I missed this one this weekend.pdt1081 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 27, 2022 10:20 am "Indirect contact to the head, boarding." And how many players have had concussions this season?

Having said that… how is that not 5 and a game? Kid should’ve gotten the gate. That’s an elbow to the head directly into the boards. Not a hockey play.

Between Barbers comments and the total lack of team effort weekend to weekend. I'm off the Eigner band Wagner. It's been three years. Give me the excuses of the portal., we're young, injuries, etc Those are exactly what they are. Excuses. Every team has had to deal with issues. Overcome them, good teams do, we don't.
Look at the program history, our three most successful coaches ALL left at went back to their Alma Mater.
Mason, created a power left to go back to Michigan State, York, continued the Power and left for Boston College. Then we went into the depths of irrelevance for about two decades. Bergeron brought us back and an NCAA appearance and he left for Miami.
Hiring within hasn't worked in the programs history to this point but we still keep going down that path. We don't pay enough to attract assistant coaches. There are about three of four sports that regularly compete at the national level, both soccer programs, volleyball and Hockey should be on this list. Heck, there are only 60 teams in the country. So frustrating and it's disappointing that we can't be competitive in the worst college league or at best, 2nd to worst college hockey league. Saw nothing in the last month that would lead to HOPE for next year. Couple pieces but, defense is brutal, scoring regressed, and freshman goalie that has to stand on his head to win. I wouldn't be surprised if some underclassman ended up in the portal.

Yes, next year is probably going to be even more difficult. The senior class this season made up well over 50% of the point production for the team. Don't see many underclassmen with the talent to be able to step up and even make a dent in that number. Yes we have some legacy kids coming in but by no means does a familiar name equate to being productive.unfalconbelievable wrote: ↑Mon Feb 28, 2022 8:53 am Between Barbers comments and the total lack of team effort weekend to weekend. I don't think you'll see many, if any kids transfer out. Hockey is way different than basketball and football. Not nearly as many open slots will be available, and from a culture perspective a lot of these kids are honestly playing college hockey to get their education paid for. Plenty of parents out there who are going to be disappointed if their son decides he wants to throw that all away and take a chance at latching on somewhere else. Only way I see anyone leaving early is if they're offered a pro contract, which seems highly unlikely with this group.
I like Ty but it's clear he's in over his head and wasn't fully ready for this job. However, the donors are the ones who speak the loudest and it's the reason why he was chosen over Schuette.

What was on Schutte's resume that made him any more qualified? 2 years as an assistant in the USHL, then disappearing from coaching for 5 years? He was the manager of Goggin when hired by Bergeron.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 28, 2022 10:58 am

Nothing in particular. Wilson was going to cost the university too much money to pry away from RIT, so it essentially came down to Ty and Barry, and the big time donors made it known to Bob that they were going to back an alum getting the job over someone who was essentially from the outside. Even if other candidates had interviewed for the position I still think the result would have been the same, that's all my point is. Barry's name is only used because he was a known entity that interviewed for the job.pdt1081 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 28, 2022 11:30 amWhat was on Schutte's resume that made him any more qualified? 2 years as an assistant in the USHL, then disappearing from coaching for 5 years? Re: @ Lake Superior State (2/25-2/26)
Ty has actual head coaching experience on his resume. And didn't spend 5 years outside coaching before being hired here. There wasn't needed pressure from the donors to make that decision. The recent program success meant they weren't going to look too far for a replacement. Right or wrong, it's pretty much on par for what every other D1 institution would have done in the same situation. Rarely does the program maintain the same consistent success without a couple down years. If he can recover and show a move towards restoring that success, he'll be fine here. If not, his contact will be up and decisions will be made.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 28, 2022 11:53 am
