That maybe true, but by our voting helps get and keep Jordan's name in front of the selection committee. Then its the critera which the selection committee will seriously have to review and according to the Hobey Baker website the criteria is:

1. Candidates must exhibit strength of character both on and off the ice.

2. Candidates must contribute to the integrity of the team and display outstanding skills in all phases of the game.

3. Consideration should be given to scholastic achievement and sportmanship.

4. Candidates must comply with all NCAA rules: be full time students in an accredited NCAA or NAIA college or university; and complete 50% or more of the season.

Okay - #4 is a no-brainer. But think seriously about #1 and #2. Can anyone think of any factors that would move Jordan off the list for serious contention considering Criteria #1 or #2? He one of the top goalies in the nation with character that can actually be measured.

KEEP VOTING FALCONS!!!!!

#1 is a no brainer also. I dont' know many players that still try to play when they can when they have MS, that takes courage and is a great measurement of his character.

Just voted today, and as of 12:00, Jordan is in thrid by 55. What the heck is Colin Murphy feeding Tech fans? Must be steroids...

Knowing the criteria for this award, Jordan should be a favorite in this. As many of you already know, aside from being one of the best goalies in the country and a person of high character, Jordan is also a great student in computer-generated art.

BTW, make sure your second place vote goes to Jonathan. He currently has 729 votes which puts him in 21st place. How cool would it be to have brothers in the final ten for the Hobey? It would certainly be a great story!

All of these are no-brainers regarding Jordan's qualifications.

#1 There isn't another person I know who exhibits more strength of character on and off the ice. Jordan's increased work with the MS Society speaks volumns about his character and how he has handled the curve ball (or rather puck) that life has thrown at him.

#2 He contributes to the integrity of the team in everything he does as a Captain and a player. His skills are without question.

#3 GPA is above 3 and sportsmanship is always at a high level.

#4 No issues here either.

Jordan more than qualifies in all areas. I hope he is able to play the remainder of the games and the team helps him improve his overall goalie numbers as well. Jordan truly deserves this award.
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Falcon Fanatic - Well-stated and continued proof of my point(s).

I'm sure we all feel the same way about Jordon and are thinking that he should bring home the Hobey and is truly the best candidate this year. If the criteria means anything.

I'm sure you've all figured this out, but I thought I'd post just in case... there is apparently no information validation on the Hobey site, other than validation that each vote is coming from a unique email address only once per day. I was able to register both my home and work email addresses with the exact same information (other than the email address itself, of course). So I can cast two votes a day. :)

Just an FYI...

Doesn't even have to be from a unique computer... just back out to the login page, and login with the alternate email address/password...

All you have to do is send an email to [email protected], with the announcement as you'd like it written. You have to send it before 3pm if you want it posted that day, and use good grammar and spelling. Be aware that they'll make a few format changes, and they can't use boldface, italics, anything like that.

The only problem (besides the question of whether people actually read the emails) is that you can only send out an announcement once--no "reminders." But you could probably get away with it by announcing his standing in the voting every week, and then encouraging people to vote and raise it. 8)

I already voted today, but I was thinking. Can you vote for Jordan for 1st, 2nd and 3rd at the same time? Someone give it a try and see if it works. I'll try tomorrow.
