Swanks on the board with a goal, we gave one up at the other end. 1-1 after 1. 40 min left. We handled Tech's initial push.

And down 3-1. Not sure if I am feeling a comeback tonight.

All in all, not a bad weekend. A split up there is good enough. And we win that winter carnival thing or whatever it is. The MacNaughton is officially out of reach. Need to split with NMU at home to clinch home ice for the first round.

Was just able to watch the replay of the hit on Schneider. Some day, the CCHA might show they actually give a damn about player safety. Obviously, today is not the day. Pushed the numbers, headfirst into the boards. Literally the definition of a 5 minute major.

Was only able to watch the second half of the game. Seemed like the big ice just got BG worn down enough they weren't able to get anything going. BG is probably one of the worst conditioned teams in all of D1. Have been for quite a few years now. Getting a split up there isn't horrible in the grand scheme of things. Still won a meaningless trophy.

Not sure what is meant by "the big ice". Nominally, BG and Tech both are 200 by 85.

I see that Tommy G parted with some of his wisdom. Thankfully I won't see it since he has been blocked. He has never added anything of value. Perhaps he should send in a resume for every coaching job on campus as well as the athletic department since he is so much more knowledgeable than everyone else.

I had the same thought about the Schneider hit when I saw it. He’s hit from behind squarely on the numbers and shoved head first into the boards. Not sure how they justify keeping that as just 2 upon replay.

I thought for sure Schneider's hit was going to be 5 and the gate.

Maybe it's the camera angles then, because that ice looks a lot bigger than BG's. I thought LSSU was the only "NHL" I've in the UP.

Yeah, it was pretty dumb to chant that - especially down by 3 goals. But that’s college kids! I’m certain our own student section and band have members that have said stupid stuff that they wish they could take back during the heat of the game.

I will say, I envy Tech’s atmosphere, but I also think the band is… kinda annoying? And maybe that’s the point, but their band is absolutely the most obnoxiously loud (and not super great musically) in the league.

While our atmosphere is not at the same level as theirs, the Tech fans will tell you ours is second best in the league and that there's a huge dropoff before you get to third. I'll take that.

I loved hearing F*OHIO while standing on their throats and stomping the life out of them. I'm sure our players did too. What sucked was sitting in Lawson this year hearing the same chant while Western was systematically dismantling us. Same chant, two entirely different situations.

As for the band, Michigan Technological University does not offer any majors in music, music performance, music composition or theater arts -- only minors. So after a hard day's work of sitting in a lab working through the intricacies of the law of thermodynamics, you get to unwind with your sax for an hour.

That's exactly what they're going for.

The 80:20 male to female ratio really limits your options.
