So when are we going to get a good coach?

Graduating with a 3.75 and being a literate adult are two different things. I know people who graduated with a 2.0 who have more tact and decorum than you do.

Ok, I am going to start over.
Clearly, all you know that I used to play for BG and thats fine. There are a lot of people that have come on here and have bashed Pooch and his way of treating players. I understand that you are fans and that you people don't know what is happening inside the lockerroom. I mean how could you. The people that follow the same standpoint as myself get very fustrated on this board. This is why the insults come, is because we get fustrated when people don't believe the truth that we are trying to speak to help the team in the long run. I mean have you ever known a hockey player to have a long fuse. There are at least 6 former players that have come on here pleading for help, any kind of help that the public and fans could give to the BG hockey program. The first thing that we came up with is get rid of Pooch. It is the thing that will make the biggest impact the soonest. There are other things that are hindering the program such as facilities but to be honest, we need to start where the most good can come from and that is getting a new coach.
I understand that a lot of people went to school when Pooch played and they looked up to him but things are different now that hes a coach. Just look at his record, how can you possibly back a guy that has such a bad record.

Thank you for the first remotely respectable post of this thread.

As far as "believing"... I'm an evidence based person. I need more than a bad record and disgruntled former players to convince me.

I was, at one point, a GB supporter. But people PROVED to me otherwise and I understand that now.

Most of the people on this board are the same way. You can tell us the sky is green all you want to, but until you show us the green sky, you may as well try to tell me it's red, too.

And name calling definitely is NOT the way to show me a green sky.

Thanks.

Since every game we ever lose is (apparently) evidence of Pooch's poor coaching, I see no choice other than to assume that the only reason we won tonight is that he suddenly became a freakin' genius. Well done.

It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Assuming you're talking about me......I'm no lady. I don't even come close. I'm married, however, and have two kids, one of whom plays hockey for what it's worth.

I also do try to proofread what I write. Not only to make sure that there are no errors, but also to ensure that it makes sense and can't be misconstrued in some way. It's a public forum and you may enjoy your anonymity but there are many people on here who know me, therefore I do my best to put my college education to use.

A 3.75 gpa is something to be proud of, but if you don't come across in a way that shows the readers of your posts that you are indeed intelligent then you may as well have a 1.5 gpa as far as they're concerned. In other words, you lose credibility.

One more suggestion.....try going to anger management or something because you seriously need help. You say that you played D1 sports, were there steroids involved? I hear that they can affect your temperament in an adverse way. :axe:

Just so everyone is clear on this.....that last line was meant as a joke.

I believe he was speaking to Findlay. I'm sure you would look good in a sun dress, however, BGFan. :-D

bigdog. We know how you feel and that's cool. I don't, for the life of me, know how to help. If there was mistreatment and that mistreatment is continuing, I believe it should be the actual 'victims' to contact the administration.

The only thing I -personally - could write to GChristopher is something like this:
Mr. Christopher,

I have heard from several unidentified prior players that the coaching staff and some department adminstrators have treated the hockey players unjustly.

Please Fire Scott Paluch immediately.

Kind regards,
That's basically the standpoint from quite a few of the fans - myself obviously included. And that is where I'm a little frustrated with the "Fire Pooch" camp. I may join that in the next year or so if the product on the ice doesn't improve.

There are fans on this board who are closer to the program than I am. A few to an impressive degree. I'm sure they could give a more detailed account of any unjust actions by current coaching staff. I believe if they witnessed such malice towards the players they would notify the administration toot sweet. Some of these fans can be quite blunt.

Finally, BGathletics24, stop acting like a d!ck. Calmer heads are always better for disagreement.

Yup, 24 was talking to me. I'm so thrilled. The kid wouldn't know respect if it jumped up and bit him you know where. BGFan, I think he must have had us confused or combined or whatever. I didn't mention his writing skills but I did ask that he re-read each of his posts calmly instead of posting the first thing that pops into his head and to consider how his posts might be taken by those who are reading it. I tried reasoning but obviously this doesn't work either. Oh well. Many people here have repeated over and over and over (you get the idea) that these guys go to the AD or others in power with facts. Either there are no facts or they just want someone else to do their dirty work for them. RUIT was dead on with his suggested "letter" to the AD. That's about all any of us here could write or say.

bigdog-thanks for your post. I do feel for you guys but you have to understand there is nothing we can do for you. It isn't up to us--it's up to you--to go to the powers that be and give them facts not hearsay. You say that at least 6 former players write on this board. Then band together and go in to talk to the AD or whoever. Obviously you are former not present players so it isn't going to hurt your career. And can I suggest that you not take BGathletics24 with you. Apparently he is not a former player and I'm afraid that his temper would only undermine what you are trying to do. Just my two cents worth. Take it for what it's worth. :D

I give Bigdog credit. He has calmed and is trying in a much more civilized manner to get his point accross.

Again, and Rightupinthere's last post hit on it, there is not too much people on this board can do. Some of us are 'influential' boosters and supporters but as far as I know no single person can influence a hiring/firing decision. Heck, I'd be surprised if a band of people on here could do that.

What we are is diehard fans. Starting abrasive talk witout backing it up with specifics and bashing an institution, BG Hockey, we have all grown to love is not a good way to make friends or convert fans to be sympathetic to your cause. Again, I commend Bigdog for realizing most of this and becomming an asset to his cause and these boards.

Fellas, I know it is frustrating and you feel like you need to clear the air and post with that chip on your shoulder. I was a DIII athlete which is a step above intramurals, I know, but I went through a coaching change following my sophomore year and never got along with the new coach. It sucks. They play favorites, you feel like you were short changed.

Just know that people do listen to your statements but it would be more constructive to leave the "Me Against The (Pooch) World" attitude at home and bring your thoughts on specific items and perhaps things will change. You have all pointed out that many people are smitten with Paluch because he played here and they went to school with him, so understand that you have an uphill battle to begin with.

This thread is what is wrong and annoying with message boards. I never thought AZZ.com would become like this, but it has and that is sad.

Call me crazy!

Post by CrazytrainBG »

I remember after last year's hockey game with Boston College, numerous BC players coming up to Pooch and giving him a big hug cuz he was a big part in them going to BC. So obviously hes making impacts on a lot of players and there are only the few disgruntled scratch players who are coming out and saying otherwise. I know its tough sitting up top of the arena at the games, but if you're on scholarship and getting the benefits of free schooling to play hockey, i expect you to be having to earn your way on the ice each week and competiting day-in and day-out on the ice in practice. It better be competition, it is with every other college hockey team in the country. You don't perform you sit. Each coach is just like Paluch and they damn well should be. I've been to a few practices and have seen Pooch work with individual players and units on the ice, but he can't hold your hand and say don't worry you'll get it ...just keep trying and we'll keep playing ya. I mean come on! You didn't make it past BG cuz you just weren't a professional caliber player...period...end of discussion.
