Assistant Captain Quits…
falconAlum, nice try. A quitter, you think Richie is a quitter. You are so mistaken cause clearly you didn't know him very well. I give my best to Richie, maybe you should do the same instead of making that remark. Kinda gutless.
PS- I sent you a private message you may want to look at.

It has to be said....I've seen it on the ice and now I see it here. Rich Meloche sure does know how to rile the crowd up!
Yes, he quit. He quit a bad situation.
Falcon Fanatic: I am sure Rich did say to post what you wrote and you talked about more than just BG Hockey, but I am also sure he also talked to bigdog in a little more straight forward, off the cuff manner.
Don't take this the wrong way but you are as they say, good PR, it is called not burning bridges. Now when he talks with bigdog on the other hand the the tie is off and little more truth reveals itself.
Sorry that's just the way it is, this isn't he first time someone has posted that they have talked to a player and what was said was a little more politically correct than what actually happened. I would give an example of this but I am too tired to go back through and find the actually post.
Lastly, this team has potential, the whole team not just moto....I just think they need the freedom to be creative on the ice and right now that isn't happening. Example, last Sat. the first period was pretty much the best, why was that? Matsamoto didn't play for alot if not most of it, the team AND the coaches were out of the comfort zone and had to became a little more creative with the lines and they way they played. After that, in the second and third, everything went back to they way it was with the same lines doing the exact same thing and everything went to hell.
Now, this is just my opinion and what I observed.

I agree with those who said earlier that the loss of Meloche won't mean much. I mean let's face it, how could the team get any worse than it already is?
This is unconfirmed, but I heard from my roommate that a great number of the hockey players went to some bar in BG last Wednesday night, and were toasting each other on being "the worst in the CCHA" or something like that and laughing about it all the way. As if they get a kick out of losing. Now I don't know if this is even true, but if it is, I want everybody gone. Coaches, players, everybody. We need to totally scrap everything and rebuild from scratch.

24: Did you confirm this with any of the players? Because if you didn't, you shouldn't spread lies.

My reason for posting what I did about Rich is that he ASKED me to do it. I had NO intention of posting anything, but did it as a favor to him. And I am sure he said things to bigdog and others that he didn't say to me. I don't really care what else was said. I care about a tremendous young man's mental health after what he has gone through. He has his head on straight and will be just fine. That's what matters to me about Rich.

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

I couldn't agree more. It's tough being a moderator on this forum. I cringe everytime I open it up and just want to scream with nearly everything that is posted now days.jpfalcon09 wrote:Man, the tension in this thread is so thick you can cut it with a knife.
I've played the game, my brother played here from 95-2000 and my dad played hockey for 25 years. There is a myriad of things going on right now in the hockey program itself that are just piling on top of itself, making everything seem worse and worse.
My dad said after last year's season that Paluch should have been let go. He felt the talent here has declined since Buddy left, and much like Brandon, Paluch rode the wave of Buddy's good recruits in the Sigalet boys and such guys like Kevin Bieksa, etc. BG is able to pluck maybe one or two good recruits each year in hockey, which compared to the other sports just simply isn't good enough. Recruiting is definitely an issue that needs to be addressed by either the coaching staff or an outside influence. I'd hate to think what this team will look like without Matsumoto.
The thing that I find laughable on here is that there are posts suggesting that the team is not playing strictly because of Paluch. A lot of these kids have the pride in themselves to go out every night and bust ass for their own personal self-satisfaction. I think that BG's hockey team right now is just being out-worked and is suffering from a lack of talent depth compared to the other teams around the league. It gets really frustrating night in and night out when you give up the first goal and have to fight back to win.
Personally, I think that this team is slowly losing the will to play hard every night because of their talent level. Scoring a goal a night just shows how few the chances are that they get to really do anything on offense, it's quite sad.
Being an avid hockey fan, I will still go to the games and support the team, because they represent the student body and play the game that I love so much. I hope that things get turned around really soon with the hockey program, there's just too much tradition and history with the program to let it fall on hard times.
One last thing...as for a lot of the negative posts on here, it's making this part of AZZ almost unbearable to read. We understand that they are problems in the program, but it would be nice to at least do what we can to support the players and coaches as best we can. Whether it's former players ripping on their fellow teammates, or just fans making passing comments, the kids are trying their hardest to play, the least we can do is show that we support them in return and haven't given up on them yet.
GO FALCONS!!
SWEEP THE NANOOKS!!

This was uncalled for on two fronts.FalconAlum wrote:hey barney, or should I say bigdog, get a life!!! As for richie, good luck but no one wants a quitter on their team
If I was to graduate early and have a job lined up, I would jump on it. This isn't about hockey. It's about life.
And bigdog has a life. To ensure my moderating life is always hopping.

How about Dan Price, Kelly Perrault, and Mike Johnson? That is to name a few buddy.

That is a politically incorrect statement to make on this forum as it will be offensive to Magman and company. Can you please reword this to say that you miss Siggy? The Niz wrote: And I never thought I'd say this, but boy do I ever miss Horrel right now.

No doubt about that trio. Now you're talking my era. I used to love watching Johnson make those impossible looking cuts to the net off the boards. He'd make the D look like traffic cones.BGfootballfan wrote:Yo, DinoDino's Pizza wrote:You may call it ignorant Mr, Big Dog, but there hasn't been a player hear since Brian Holzinger who could have made the team in 1984. Price had this bizarre knack for circling the entire offensive zone with the puck and not pass or shoot it. Usually he'd end up losing the puck at the end, but it was spectacular to watch.
The thing I remember about Kelly was a fight he got into a fight in a lopsided loss to Michigan and absolutely pummeled the guy. I think it was Sloan (but I might be wrong). It was the only thing we had to cheer about all game. On his way off the ice, Kelly raised his arms like he just won the heavyweight championship.

Hey FalconAlumn
FalconAlumn, i am just curios here but you say you played for Paluch right? I also played for Paluch, so here is a good chance that we are teamattes. I have no clue who you are but if you played for Paluch when i did and you stick up for him than you must have been one of the very very very very few players that use to -----edited-----(this stuff will NOT be tolerated)--. Also you werer problably that guy that everybody hated.
What kind of teamate rats out his own buddy's. since there is only one guy that i played with that would do that i can take a good guess at who you are. that's even if you did play. I still don't know for sure if you did play, why don't you send me a private message and talk about who you are.
As for a former player i look forward to getting a new coach and seeing BG hockey become great again. Oh yeah and BEST OF LUCK TO MELOCHE, IT WAS THE BEST THING THAT HE COULD HAVE DONE.

It's time to lock this thread. We all wish Rich the best of luck in all he does, but this kind of talk needs to be kept to private messages.
