Ever been in Yost? Used to be right after their hour long goal chant they would do that one, no matter what the score was.VDub26Falcon wrote:I've done that Sieve chant at hockey games for a few different Minor League Hockey teams. Didn't realize it was a MICHIGAN thing.

I, for one, will not be missing Michigan fans at the conference championships after this season.
I love people who can laugh at themselves. It saves me the effort.

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Just FYI, I smiled when the arena erupted in "See ya, Bye Bye, JACKASS!" when Union committed a penalty. So glad that hasn't died. "That's debatable, they still suck!" "Who's he? NOBODY!" Love it.

I can not attest to which is the original sieve chant. It took on a life of its own, but it to finds its CCHA origins right there at the BGSU ice arena. Emanating from the student section H, down and across the ice to ever intimidating Bleacher Creatures in Section A on the glass. Getting wild one night as the Flacons pummeled the Lake State Lakers with double digits.

I understand that the rest of the crowd may be uneasy about following along with the student section when we say "jack-ass," but I don't understand why I never hear anyone else following along with the other cheers. The cheer "Whose he? Nobody!" is still around. As a student highly involved in our student section, we really want to hear the rest of the crowd reach out and chant along with us. We want to hear the entire area just erupt in BG....SU! I want to do anything I can to help out the alumni and Falcon hockey fans who were around during the Glory Years, so please let me know if there is anything I can do to help you. The student section will probably never stop saying "Jack-Ass," but that is the only cheer when we swear, so I really want to get the support of the alumni and other Faclon hockey fans who attend the games.

"Bullshit" could be changed to something better, like "HEY REF! You're terrible...You're Ugly...You're terrible...You're Ugly...YOU'RE TERRIBLY UGLY!" Get a group of people to start it, and let the crowd do the "You're Ugly" part.Falcon Hockey Fan wrote:I understand that the rest of the crowd may be uneasy about following along with the student section when we say "jack-ass," but I don't understand why I never hear anyone else following along with the other cheers. For the one millionth time, the orginal chant is "...AND UGLY...AND TERRIBLY UGLY!" It was never "You're Ugly".BGhockeyfan94 wrote:"Bullshit" could be changed to something better, like "HEY REF! Re: Chants
I want everyone to know that there are some of us students trying to bring back certain traditions, and you WILL be seeing that at the OSU series. All we want is to see the rest of the crowd doing the chants and cheers along with us. We are definately going to bring back some of the originals, but probably not all. Through the years, newer students have started their own chants, which have become tradition. Saying "jack-ass" may be annoying to some alumni, but you have to realize that those are our traditions now, and we love them, just as you love yours. I just want to find some middle ground between the student section and the alumni/ former Falcon hockey fans from the Glory days.

Well, then go ahead and label me ashamed if our history of creative hockey chants has morphed into thinking that calling an opposing player 'Jack-ass' is either creative or traditional.

Go to other colleges and see a hockey game. Times are changing and cheers are getting more vulgar. Plus, the "Jack-ass" chant has been around a few years, its not like all of a sudden we started going it. Maybe not the most creative thing, but its catchy and the students like it.

Let's see . . .
because other colleges do it
times are changing
people are more vulgar
it's been going on awhile and
it's not the most creative . . . .
it is what we are going to do

(I guess I like the ol stuff cause it was none of the above, but I'm gettin older
