Wheels fell off for the Beavs in the 3rd. 4 in 7 is tough. Should cool off the pundits a bit.

Re: WCHA Standings Update
They get two days off, then get Huntsville for 2. That's a lot of hockey in a short period of time for NCAA.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 03, 2021 7:32 pmWheels fell off for the Beavs in the 3rd. 4 in 7 is tough. Should cool off the pundits a bit.

Re: WCHA Standings Update
Big weekend gets started tonight with Tech and Mankato. Obviously hoping Ferris musters the effort to get LSSU to overtime tomorrow. Wouldn't be a bad thing either if UAH can steal a game in Bemidji.
Games to pay attention to outside the WCHA:
Omaha/UND - Fourth game in a row between these two, UND is 3-0. A clean sweep by UND might put UNO in bubble danger pending league playoffs.
Northeastern/BC - Northeastern needs a statement win for tournament consideration and could find it tonight.
Providence/UConn - UConn is below .500 and a loss tonight could jeopardize their tournament chances. On the flip side, a UConn win could easily knock Providence out of the bubble as well.

Re: WCHA Standings Update
Lake Superior officially finishes 2nd.
BG will take 3rd place (for the 5th time in the WCHA era) and play Northern Michigan next weekend in the first round of the playoffs.

Re: WCHA Standings Update
Right - total assumption on my part that Bemidji would take a game from UAH this weekend.

Methinks whoever gets to the WCHA championship game, outside of NMU, and assuming Minnesota State gets there too, is going to be the one going to the NCAA.

I tried to copy over the bracket -- but the way folks do web pages these days, everything seems to be protected from copying -- or I'm just inept at this stuff (a more likely scenario).
BG is in the bracket with Northern, Ferris and Lake Superior. If they can get through it to the finals, anything can happen.

Re: WCHA Standings Update
CHN's bracket is wrong. Lake is playing UAH not Ferris. Winner of BG/NMU plays the winner of that series. BG won't see Minnesota State until the final, if at all.Falconwriter wrote: ↑Sun Mar 07, 2021 11:02 am I tried to copy over the bracket -- but the way folks do web pages these days, everything seems to be protected from copying -- or I'm just inept at this stuff (a more likely scenario).

Re: WCHA Standings Update
Unless they're doing something special for this year, there is no "bracket." After first round, winners are reseeded. IF, big IF, Both BG and Huntsville advance, BG would get the Bemidji/Tech winner. Do I forsee an upset in the first round? No, not really. But it could happen.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 07, 2021 12:26 pmCHN's bracket is wrong. Lake is playing UAH not Ferris. Re: WCHA Standings Update
Unless the team was just gassed and this week off really helps, I think NMU could easily come down here and win 2 of 3. Team has played mediocre since the Michigan Tech series.
Re: WCHA Standings Update
Eh. I agree that we haven't had true momentum since then, but we've won 3 straight (including a win over NMU) while NMU has lost 3 in a row. I feel like while they're a solid opponent that has the potential to give us trouble, we should/will win the series. Maybe it even takes a third game, but I would be fairly surprised if we don't emerge victorious.
