Re: Offseason 2022
Carson Musser signed with the Norfolk Admirals in the E.
In honestly surprised Norris and Craggs still haven't signed.

He's on IR with a lower body injury, seems kinda serious. The guy can't catch a break.

Re: Offseason 2022
Saw today the assistant strength and conditioning coach position is open for the team.

Re: Offseason 2022
That's potentially good news, if it leads to an improvement. Strength and conditioning has been lacking for a long time.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 22, 2022 2:20 pm Saw today the assistant strength and conditioning coach position is open for the team.

Unofficial transfer portal count is at 99.
56 forwards, 30 D, 13 goaltenders.

30 D? Ty needs to be all over that.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 22, 2022 7:56 pm Unofficial transfer portal count is at 99.

Really in general, we need forwards that have a little scoring talent to them, too. Guys that can find the back of the net.

Parker, Lloyd, Malmstrom, are the top 3. Daly, Coyle, and Wozney round out the returnees. Norris will be one of the top 2 pair. Not sure where Blake is going to fit in. That's 8 D men.mbenecke wrote: ↑Wed Mar 23, 2022 6:38 am30 D? Ty needs to be all over that.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 22, 2022 7:56 pm Unofficial transfer portal count is at 99.

The portal this season is not going to be anywhere near what it was last. Last season, most teams already had their incoming freshman set, and very few pro contracts available. There just wasn't a lot of room for 5th year seniors staying where they were. The teams that added the most from the portal were the ones hit hard with early signings (North Dakota, BC, etc). I wouldn't anticipate finding much better than what the team is losing. I wouldn't expect a transfer D unless one of the current guys decides to leave early for whatever reason.

Re: Offseason 2022
I think your bottom three D guys are in the right order. Daly ahead of Coyle and Wozney. Coyle, Wozney, and Blake all looking for ice time. I'm really hoping Norris' numbers this year are indicative of his play next year. We need defensemen who can get the puck up the ice in a hurry. Our breakout last year was "challenged" a lot of the time. Nothing up the center of the ice; always along the boards which feeds right into the neutral zone trap. So we gingerly dump it in but the off wing carries no speed into the offensive zone so it comes right back out just in time for us to change lines.
OK, rant over, I'm done.

Captain Alex Barber has announced that he is returning for a 5th year at BG next season.
Huge boost to our forwards for next year.

Per an article from the athletic department, Dougherty, Burke, and Schneider are all also returning.
Absolutely massive.

Re: Offseason 2022
Burke? That is welcome news. I figured since he was in the MBA program last year with Chicoine and Norris that he'd be moving on.
Schneider is also good news. He has some wheels under him and is our best faceoff guy.

The eye test of what I see on the ice, Daly is one of, if not the best skater on the team. He's also one of the best when it comes to both possessing and skating with the puck. Kind of interested to know the off ice situation there.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Wed Mar 23, 2022 8:58 am I think your bottom three D guys are in the right order. Daly ahead of Coyle and Wozney. Re: Offseason 2022
Good news. Barber, Dougherty, and Schneider have dealt with their fair share of disappointment with the program. We'll see if this final year will really motivate them and the rest of the team.
Still need help on the blueline and getting a puck moving defenseman or two.

Barber-Schneider-Burke
Dougherty-Swankler-Scardina (if healthy)
Collin-Pitters-Fyten
Krieger-Schneider-Emerson/Pfoh
D
Lloyd-Malmstrom

Blake-Norris

Missing anyone?
