Re: WCHA Standings Update
Dewine has opened OHSAA basketball tournament and other tournaments to allow 25% capacity.
Any chance we see some fans in the stands this weekend? I'd certainly hope so

Re: WCHA Standings Update
I had hoped so, but with the department putting out a statement reiterating their limited attendance policy for outdoor spring sports on Friday, I don't think it's very likely.unfalconbelievable wrote: ↑Sun Mar 07, 2021 4:35 pm Dewine has opened OHSAA basketball tournament and other tournaments to allow 25% capacity.

Re: WCHA Standings Update
If BG loses a series to NMU then they rightfully have no business anywhere near the tournament. Week off should help with injuries and getting re-focused.

From what I've been told there will be no changes in the attendance policy for hockey.unfalconbelievable wrote: ↑Sun Mar 07, 2021 4:35 pm Dewine has opened OHSAA basketball tournament and other tournaments to allow 25% capacity.

Re: WCHA Standings Update
University announced no changes in terms of who can attend. More people in the building but still relegated to students along with friends and family.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 08, 2021 10:31 amFrom what I've been told there will be no changes in the attendance policy for hockey.unfalconbelievable wrote: ↑Sun Mar 07, 2021 4:35 pm Dewine has opened OHSAA basketball tournament and other tournaments to allow 25% capacity.

By them not moving on the current attendance policy, please stop pan-handling me for money. You can be bringing in money through ticket sales, though limited, and your turning it down. Optics of this aren't good. Hockey, basketball, volleyball, soccer, etc
Re: WCHA Standings Update
It's the "service provider" business model. They really couldn't care less about long time loyal "customers." They'll sacrifice 100 of those to get 30 new "customers."unfalconbelievable wrote: ↑Tue Mar 09, 2021 7:58 am By them not moving on the current attendance policy, please stop pan-handling me for money. Is it fair to point out that this is *technically* the students' team? As in, this is their college experience, so they should get the first shot at going?
I understand loyalty and whatnot - I've been to 61 games over the past 4 seasons and I was dying to get to one this year, but I feel at peace knowing that the students who currently attend the university are a priority to the department.
Maybe that's because I was a student as recently as last year and my perspective is slanted that way, but that's the lens I'm viewing it through.

You do realize they were at Starbucks trying to give tickets away to students for the last game?mbenecke wrote: ↑Tue Mar 09, 2021 8:50 am Is it fair to point out that this is *technically* the students' team? As in, this is their college experience, so they should get the first shot at going?

No, I wasn't aware of that. If student interest was actually that low, then yes... I think it's a little silly to expect it to be more now.

Re: WCHA Standings Update
BG has been horrid at handling tickets, promotions and everything connected to it for decades. They were bad at it when I was a student nearly 40 years ago.Critical Thinker wrote: ↑Tue Mar 09, 2021 1:52 pmSeriously? I missed the last game because I didn't think there were any student tickets left. Maybe their problem is promotion, not lack of interest.

There was a guy that handled tickets back in the 90s and early 2000s that I thought did a really good job. He basically handled the office solo and had student workers. I always had great customer service with him and never had issues with any of my season tickets.
I believe Greg Christopher signed an agreement with an outside vendor and they reassigned the gentleman who handled things. Can’t remember his name Scott or Steve maybe.
From then on tickets were nothing but a pain for me. The combination of that and cutting a bunch of baseball scholarships after winning back to back conference championships made me not renew my Hockey, FB and MBB tickets.
Tried season tickets for hockey again after Christopher left, but had issues again with parking passes, and getting tickets on time. Plus, I found the quality of play was really a step down from old CCHA. Didn’t really think it was worth it.

Scot Bressler. It looks like in 2008 he was named Assistant Director for Financial AffairsTommyG wrote: ↑Wed Mar 10, 2021 8:37 am There was a guy that handled tickets back in the 90s and early 2000s that I thought did a really good job. Re: WCHA Standings Update
Why are they so concerned with getting tickets to students who don't want to even go? Because they need to justify the 13 million in student fees they collected, and the likely 4+% they plan to increase those fees for the 2021-2022 academic year. Those season ticket holders are peanuts in comparison to the need for those fees. Protecting salaries is priority 1, everything else in secondary. It's why Bob Moosbrugger is dealing with the Cooper Pool these days. Another avenue to student fees.
