Re: @ Northern Michigan (10/1-10/2)
I know they were tweaking the OT PWR calculation. Last year it was 55/45 (basically a tie). Thought they changed it to something like 66/34? Was that for this year or next?

Looks like it's still 55/45 according to CHN. I posed the question to Mike McMahon for further clarification.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Sun Oct 02, 2022 8:45 pm I know they were tweaking the OT PWR calculation. If so, that won't hurt too much - we also get the away bonus for the win yesterday. And leaving that house of horrors with 4 league points is huge. Sure we had a chance at 6 or 5 but we were a post away from leaving with 3. I'll take it.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 02, 2022 9:08 pmLooks like it's still 55/45 according to CHN.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Sun Oct 02, 2022 8:45 pm I know they were tweaking the OT PWR calculation. We got 3 for the win Sat. NMU get 3 for the OT win Sunday.

I see that on CCHA.com but I wonder if that’s correct. Here’s the wording from the website on how points are awarded:
POINTS EXPLANATION: Teams are awarded three points for each conference win in regulation, two points for an overtime or shootout win and one point for an overtime or shootout loss. Overtime wins and losses appear in both the W and L columns, as well as the OTW and OTL columns.

I see that on the College Hockey News website. Fine with me.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Sun Oct 02, 2022 9:36 pmI see that on CCHA.com but I wonder if that’s correct. Here’s the wording from the website on how points are awarded:

I went a round or two with the CCHA on its inept standings-keeping last season. Apparently, it didn't help.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Sun Oct 02, 2022 9:36 pmI see that on CCHA.com but I wonder if that’s correct. Here’s the wording from the website on how points are awarded:

Edit: they fixed it. We are officially in first place.

Re: @ Northern Michigan (10/1-10/2)
I heard on the latest USCO podcast that for pairwise purposes OT wins are now 2/3 and 1/3 instead of .55/.45. So as far as calculations go, Northern picked up 2/3 of .8 on Saturday (winning at home is not as advantageous as winning on the road, hence the .8) and we got a little bump from Sunday as well. That should wrap up the first weekend.

So a full 1.2 and 34% of a 0.8? Not terrible for an opening weekend against a formidable opponent.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Mon Oct 03, 2022 2:28 pm I heard on the latest USCO podcast that for pairwise purposes OT wins are now 2/3 and 1/3 instead of .55/.45. Is it 34% of 1.2? I’ve tried looking up the calc but keep striking out.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 03, 2022 2:48 pmSo a full 1.2 and 34% of a 0.8? Home/Road weighting: For purposes of calculating a final RPI, games are weighted based upon whether they are home or road games. Road wins and home losses are weighted by a factor of 1.2, while home wins and road losses are weighted by 0.8.

Re: @ Northern Michigan (10/1-10/2)
I was looking up pairwise, should have been looking up RPI. Nice find. I read that as 33% of 1.2 for us, 67% of .8 for Northern. Not that this matters right now, what matters is 4 points vs. 2 points.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 03, 2022 3:09 pmFrom CHN:TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Mon Oct 03, 2022 2:51 pmIs it 34% of 1.2?
