Re: Game Thread: Bowling Green vs. #12 Nebraska-Omaha
The Refs made the mistake, in no sport where the officals make mistake do they come back the next DAY and replay anything, nor do the governing bodies take points away. What is the CCHA thinking here? The game was played, the score sheets signed and documented the game called its over. they need to move on and play tonight's game.BGDrew wrote:The official story on the BGSU site pretty much nails it. What will be interesting is:
1) If JST is indeed ruled inelgible for the shootout, what's the result of the game? Will there be a make-up shootout tomorrow? Will BG be forced to take a L?
2) Was the official stat sheet signed? Everything I've ever read is that once the stat sheet is signed by the officials the game is then considered official and nothing can be changed.
Again, the last I heard was that the BGSU SID and coaches are waiting outside the officials locker room. The players are at the arena too.
To starts tonight's game with a shootout, would inappropriately alter the tone of the following game, to have them dress and do a shootout at high noon, would also interfere with the tone of tonights game. Not to mention there is no rule or provsion under the rules that allows them to alter the final outcome of lastnights game, there is nothing in the NCAA rules, or CCHA that provides them with a provision to do so.

The CCHA officials better tread lightly here as they could be opening Pandora's box for if this is up for review a day after the game what wouldn't be? Say a video of a game shows a team that scored had too many men on the ice when they did and the officials missed it. Can the CCHA take the goal away the next day? Once the game is over it should stay that way. If they decide some remedy is in order and take away the JST goal, the ONLY thing that makes sense is that BG is allowed one more shooter to be given an attempt before tonight's game to settle it. Remember, if they take away the goal they have also taken away the attempt and the rules state each team will have at least 3 attempts each. Nothing else should be allowed as this would allow BG 3 shooters as they were suppose to have. UNO had all three of their chances already to score and didn't, so their is no reason to replay the entire shootout as this would give them 6 chances to score and BG would have only had 5. I think the CCHA will let it stand and BG gets the win,

I agree puckster!! This is not a road they should be going down! No FREAKIN' WAY!
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Have you ever noticed how that little tail on the top of our uniform "1" makes it look kind of like a "7"? JST is "21"...Dee is "27". Could this whole thing come down to something as simple as that?
Regardless of what happens, congrats to our guys for a great effort!

This person has no clue...it would be akin to the NCAA going back in the ND USC where REggie bush was pushed over the line by Matt Leinhert and going back and over turning the score the day after because the rules prohibit assistance.

This is a great point. To me this makes the most sense, but who knows what will happen. Regardless, whatever decision is made it will still cause controversy.bgpuckster wrote:The CCHA officials better tread lightly here as they could be opening Pandora's box for if this is up for review a day after the game what wouldn't be? If you think that's actually the last time he posts some BS like this, you clearly haven't been paying attention very long. That's not an attack on you, just trying to make sure you know how this works.sum1udontknow wrote:I think it shows a bit of class for you 24 to give credit and not make excuses or we got lucky comments. Hats off to you.
You know, 24, It was bad enough you called the season over after the first real game, but then to come into this thread and chalk up a sweep for UNO is just the nasty icing on the douchebag flavored cake that you are.
Believe it or not, I wanted to try to stop calling you out all the time, but that's over. If you'd like to be a reactionary weirdo and get all bi-polar about everything your team does, do us all a favor, buy some scarlet and gray, and call it a life. I'm tired of you and your act, and so is everyone else.
Messed up call or not, great showing by the boys and hopefully they'll take the game tonight in regulation and remove all doubt. Also glad to hear JST is holding it down. After watching him in the exhibition, I could tell he had a lot of potential.

I doubt highly they studied the error in order to reverse it. I'm sure it was a study of "what can we learn from this going forward."MACMAN wrote:lets keep it going.

Any reversal was going to result in a slippery slope. The safe bet is to "let the play stand" and move forward.
A tie is a tie and an extra point will help. Let's get the win tonight.
