So based on those stats, were both Emerson and Blake recruited to be practice players like Evola and Eigner? So far the production is lacking for a team that really needs production. How many practice players does a normal college hockey team keep?

Speaking of Klee, it was youth hockey night for a hockey team in Columbus. I saw Mason Klee, he had a blocked shot.
Re: @Augie (10/14, 10/15)
Let’s start another campaign
“Bring Back the Glory part Deux!”
Cut the program…bring the program back 15 minutes later….then announce plans for a new staff, new uniforms, new fundraising plan that brings in no money and another 15 years of irrelevance and no championships.
Oh and cameras installed in all areas of the rink and players housing to make sure no hazing is going on. They’ll also need to create a position of “director of off ice development and anti-hazing” to supervise all the cameras and babysit the players.
Maybe they can cut all the baseball scholarships and maybe one scholarship from men’s soccer to meet their fundraising goal to pay for all this. On second thought…they can just cut the whole baseball program again. Baseball Alumni might be mad, but maybe we can put their name on a set of new lockers after we renovate the hockey locker room. I think that will work.
While they are at it, they should probably just throw another year on Loeffler’s contract just to show some stability within the department.

JFC, multiple people have explained all of this to you multiple times using language a 5 year old would understand. And either you genuinely still don't get it or you actually do get it and don't care. Suggestion if it's the former: reread the thread, all your questions above have been answered.
I hadn't hit the block option yet, but yeah, that's done after this. Begone, troll.

pdt, I appreciate that you post around here and I respect your right to offer your opinion, but I don’t understand your insistence that those guys are unjustly suspended. What makes you say this? Is this based in fact or are you just speculating? If they did indeed participate in hazing, they will (rightly) likely never play here again. So they need to get this right.
The only things we know for a fact publicly right now are that they are suspended for the investigation. There have been no other details out there that can be verified as fact, at least publicly. Do you have inside information that proves they are innocent? Genuinely curious where this steadfast belief comes from.

At this point, 4 weeks and 4 games in, if they can't publicly say there was in fact hazing, it is unjust punishment. The investigation regarding the suspensions should only be determining whether hazing took place or not. It then gets turned over to the courts/prosecutor for determination of charges. A properly conducted public investigation would have announced this step. If the suspension of the coach is regarding a separate investigation, say so, and publicly make it known. This absolute silence from the Athletic Department regarding the team in general is disrespectful to the players, coaches, donors, and fans (students included).mbenecke wrote: ↑Mon Oct 16, 2023 10:07 am pdt, I appreciate that you post around here and I respect your right to offer your opinion, but I don’t understand your insistence that those guys are unjustly suspended. The lawyers at this point should be getting an injunction to reinstate the players/coach until the investigation is complete.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 16, 2023 11:10 am

49th in the Pairwise..................This is working out I'm sure as the University planned.
1) Take longer then the OJ verdict......... Check
2) Silence is great..................................... Check
3) No deadline in sight............................Check
4) Uninspired team with no heart........Check
5) Have an empty barn by Christmas...Check
This weekend we play someone actually good. I thought the Dennis Williams year was rough, this is becoming comparable.
DEAR UNIVERSITY OFFICIALS
FIX your second largest revenue sport. The process you have created is doing more harm then good. No one is winning, even the team. I'm saying "uncle"....... FIX IT.

Blame Bob Moosbrugger, Kit Hughes, Jim Elsasser and Ty Eigner. It takes a village to bring a program back. It only takes a few self serving types to take it to a really really bad place. Is Buddy Powers still a volunteer assistant?TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Mon Oct 16, 2023 10:01 amI blame Peter Eigner and Kit Hughes.pdt1081 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 16, 2023 9:59 amIt's almost like 2 guys capable of putting up decent points are suspended unjustly, I mean indefinitely.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Mon Oct 16, 2023 9:49 amJFC, multiple people have explained all of this to you multiple times using language a 5 year old would understand. I agree the Eigner hire was a big mistake. I know some don't like Berge on here, but he had the team playing with excellent structure and with a true 18-man effort. That culture is all but gone. The university went cheap and hired an alumnus assistant, even Berge candidly said Ty wasn't ready for this job. The right move would have been bringing in someone from the outside with experience to push this to the next level. Regrettably, five years later the wheels have fallen off in more than one respect.guest44 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 16, 2023 12:26 pmBlame Bob Moosbrugger, Kit Hughes, Jim Elsasser and Ty Eigner. This all followed a very similar trajectory as Gregg Brandon. Assistant hired, rides the players from the previous staff for a couple years, and then everything goes to hell once it's time to bring in your own players. It's gross.
I'm half-tempted to start a coaching thread on here only because there isn't going to be much to discuss after the next few weekends and the team is already out of it.
It all sucks because I helped coach the club team in 2008-09 and got an up close view of how awful the program was at that time. I'm getting the same feeling on the current state of affairs.

Re: @Augie (10/14, 10/15)
Considering Eigner’s contract was for the same salary as what Bergeron was making his last year at BG, I wouldn’t say they went cheap. They just made huge mistake when there were much better candidates out there. It’s kind of amazing how the went from an above avg WCHA team, to mediocre CCHA team, to absolutely unwatchable in the span of about 24 month months.
I’ve been over this program for quite awhile because they rarely challenge themselves in their non-conference matchups. It was clear they were just scheduling to get to 20 wins and not making a push for at large bids. Now they are getting beat by the teams that should auto wins.

Curious about something on the Brandon hire now that you mention it. For those around then (I was a couple of years away from attending BG when Brandon was hired as head coach), what was the fan base's thought on hiring Brandon as head coach? Another assistant hired as head coach that went badly was Jennifer Roos replacing Curt Miller. I remember that time on here and it was pretty unanimous that everyone wanted Roos as head coach, while it seemed more split on Eigner replacing Bergeron. Just curious what is was for Brandon replacing Meyer for those who remember?jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 16, 2023 12:38 pm This all followed a very similar trajectory as Gregg Brandon.
