HOCKEY RENOVATIONS OFFICALLY ON HOLD
Surprisingly enough I haven't seen this mentioned yet, and if it is, oh well...
Renovation on Ice Arena Delayed
It's from the BG News and I know how some of you appear to discredit it, but this may shed some light on the situation.

Should we start rumors of another push for a Big Ten hockey conference?

Atlantic Hockey will have 12 schools when they add Robert Morris and Niagara in 2010-2011.murphdogg wrote:I wonder what conference they will be in. The CCHA already has 12 teams, the WCHA isn't in the same geographic area. Maybe Atlantic Hockey? Or maybe they're trying to revive College Hockey America
Penn State's a big name school, Hockey East might want them.
I don't know if they can be competitive in Hockey East right off the bat. There might be some serious league realignment going on in the next few years. If Northern Michigan goes to the WCHA, I think the CCHA would be smart to pick up Penn State. They have a strong and enthusiastic fan base and would likely bring in more revenue to the league than Northern Michigan, even if they were terrible the first few years.rood wrote:Atlantic Hockey will have 12 schools when they add Robert Morris and Niagara in 2010-2011.murphdogg wrote:I wonder what conference they will be in. Didn't feel like reading through every post to catch up, so i don't know if this has been mentioned, but i heard from someone who works in the athletic department that there is no way the hockey program is being cut and it hasn't been considered....i found this a little comforting....yet it's still a worry for some reason
The University of Wisconsin is building a brand new 25 million dollar practice rink. It was originally slated to be a 40 million dollar project. Any chance we can get them to kick some of that 15 mil to us for Ice Arena renovations? Please?

Don't believe them. Because we all know that President Cartwright cut the hockey program at Kent State.drumstix2388 wrote:Didn't feel like reading through every post to catch up, so i don't know if this has been mentioned, but i heard from someone who works in the athletic department that there is no way the hockey program is being cut and it hasn't been considered....i found this a little comforting....yet it's still a worry for some reason

President Cartwright cut the program at Kent State because several of the team members were caught up in a felony hazing charge. After that all of the coaches were let go and no recruits wanted to even look at KSU for hockey, so there wasn't really much of a choice. but from what i've heard from a couple people that i know who were at Kent while she was president is that she was actually VERY supportive of all athletics.transfer2BGSU wrote:Don't believe them. Hockey is here to stay.
There is no truth to this stupid rumor at all. Seems like some in here want to see the program fail by just repeating it over and over. This is one of the downsides of anonymous blogging, anyone can put a completely unfounded statement out there and some are dumb enough to believe it.
