Just researching for BGSUsports.com again, and found this interesting story about former Falcon Brian MacLellan. A great write-up, really....

Dam shame the article gives no praise to his ass kick abilites. When push came to shove here at BG, MAC was hardest hitting enforcer I have ever seen. A pit bull among men.
Image

when Brian suffered a fractured neck at the hands of a player who shall remain anon, who lifted his with both hands his stick above his back and blade touching the ice behind him choped down on Brians head from behind leaving MAC convulsing on the ice for many min durring the ensuing bench clearing mele. He prety much hung up gloves, yet the enfocer never left, he was more picky about when to drop the gloves and let loose the dogs of war. He still is spoken about in BBS like this

from time to time.
Not that fighting is good, but it happens and back in the day it happend more offten and left to go longer. MAC was prety much undefeated. i dont know how far back the film archives go, but I bet Scott could tell ya some good MAC stories.

It really angers me when people say that fighting does not belong in hockey. It is such a vital part of the history, and honestly the guys aren't pulling out AK's over it.

I think like you drew, hockey is agresive game very physical game, and individual dominace is just as key as soud play.
Its to bad the UN of sport keeps trying to limit the scope of game play, to their own vission...its only time untill we play games with out scores where everyone wins.

Sure thing! The best part about doing this website is digging up stuff like this. I originally was going to post it for the part about what he overcame as a kid and what he achieved, but that McPhee story clinched it!

Mac was ACE. Any chance of aggro and Mac would nonchanantly glide into range, like a shark circling for a kill, and woah! icers would head for Sunday school like there would be no tomorrow. And why not? Everyone's bigger with their blades on, but Mac was so huge he had to duck to miss the ceiling.

Oh, yes, almost forgot. He played great hockey, too. Good years to watch BGSU hockey, no doubt.
