Neville, 20 (5/27/85) came to the Gamblers via a trade with the Omaha Lancers in mid-January.
In 20 games with Green Bay, Neville has posted a 12-8-0 record, to accompany a 2.68 goals
against average and a .917 save percentage. The Greene, New York native also has three
shutouts and two assists during his tenure with the Gamblers.

Looks like he should give Spratt a push to elevate his game. Could be a good find.

And here I had someone else pegged as the third goaltender next year

why do we dress three ggoalies? do we need somebody to open each of the doors to the bench? it seems like a bit of a waist of a spot.

That's only done at home games. It's one of the advantages of being the home team. If you go to an away game you'll notice that we dress two and they dress three.

Also, we really need three goalies for practices. Allowing the third goalie to dress for home games is kind of a reward for all the work he puts in during practice. Every once in awhile, when we have a big lead in the third period, the third goalie is rewarded even more with some playing time. The third goalie is usually a "fan favorite."

Also, the 'spot' on the bench for the third goalie isn't a spot that's not being used by someone else. What I mean to say is, you can dress 18 skaters and and 3 goalies... you're not taking a spot away from a skater by dressing your third goalie.

Typically, the reason your third goalie doesn't dress on the road is because of the limit on the size of the travel party. Coaches will usually take extra skaters in case someone gets hurt rather than the third goalie. Travel party limit is 22 (someone can correct me if that number is wrong), which would account for 18 skaters, 2 goalies, and 2 extras.

IMO, he will be the 2nd goalie even though he was signed later than Greer. The bigger question I see is his interest in BG given that the following year they will have Spratt and Unice. It would be awfully hard to break into the rotation. Again, IMO, looking at Spratt and Unice, it may be similar to Vicari and Lerg at MSU - 2 top quality goalies fighting for PT. I did not anticipate BG dedicating 2 scholarships to the goalie position but maybe the availability of Unice changed that.

I believe that Greer is a recruited walk on. I don't know about Neville. Given how early they've gone after Unice I would bet that he's a definate scholarship recruit. This year's kind of strange because we're losing two goalies and we already have one lined up for 2008. My bet is that Greer will only be around for 1 year and that Neville becomes the third goalie unless he proves himself otherwise.

I would bet every $$ I have that Greer is a recruited walk on and maybe a 1/4 to 1/2 for Nevelle which is a lot of $$ to put towards the goalie position. On paper Spratt and Unice arefar and away the guys to carry the program.
