Good Luck, CCHA teams!!
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Suddenly the losses to UNO doesn't look so terrible.

I see Michigan State making a major run in the tourney. They have been one of the hottest teams in the nation since Jan. 1st. Miami got a real tough first round game having to go up against BC. I don't see the hawks winning that one and I feel bad for Miami because they've had such a great season. I think Wisconsin will win it all though and once again a western school takes the championship.

But here's the thing about BC: they have been struggling as of late. They have a losing record since the beginning of Feb. and I don't feel they would have made it past the first round of the Hockey East tournament if they'd drawn any of the other three lower seeds (Providence, UMass Lowell, Massachusetts). But they got lucky and drew Vermont, the only other team in the league that was as cold as they were.BGSU Crazy Fan 58 wrote:I see Michigan State making a major run in the tourney. So I think that is a very winnable game for the RedHawks.
I'll be at that regional, so if you guys want to know how Miami or UNO does, I'd be more than happy to do little recaps. In a way I like this regional: two CCHA schools against two Hockey East schools. The leagues I know best over the past couple of years. Personally, I'm rooting for the CCHA
BU is playing very well right now too. I watched their tourney in Boston. They kicked the crap out of New Hampshire (9-2) and then beat BC in OT. Watch out for Jack Parker's BU Terriers. I will always root for the CCHA, but I highly doubt that anyone has a chance against the WCHA....again. By the way, the best game I've seen so far had to be Minnesota and St. Cloud on Friday night. St. Cloud was up 5-2 at one point and ended up winning in OT 8-7! A hell of a game. Really looking forward to the tourney. Should be some great hockey!

Yeah, BU is definitely hot right now. David Van der Gulik and Peter MacArthur in particular are fun to watch.falcons86 wrote:BU is playing very well right now too. I watched their tourney in Boston. But I just can't bring myself to root for the Terriers. It goes against all that is good and right in this world.
You can't argue with Harvard at this moment, either. They won the ECAC tournament, beating their opponents by a combined score of 16-3. I don't think anybody expected the 10-goal outburst against Dartmouth, but then they beat Cornell 6-2 the next night... and Cornell's not exactly known for giving up a ton of goals.
Really, the only cakewalk I see in the first round is Minnesota over Holy Cross. On paper the Wisconsin/Bemidji game might look like an easy win for Wisco, but I was at the regional last year when Bemidji took Denver to OT before bowing out. I think Denver took Bemidji too lightly, and the Beavers put a good scare into the Pios before Denver went on to repeat.

You know, there's no good reason to root against BU, I just do. I always have (long before going back to school). Maybe it comes from one of my friends who is a die-hard Wisconsin fan. She hated BU.Dublin Falcon wrote:Just curious, what's your deal against BU? I don't care either way. I thought it was funny that you were so outspoken against the. I love the passion this game brings!!
Teams I will never root for: Maine, BU, Notre Dame, OSU, Minnesota. When teams like Minnesota and Maine play each other, I always hope that the earth will open up and swallow the arena and everyone in it.

Oh yes, add Michigan to my list.pdt1081 wrote:Don't forget about scUM and MSU.McConvey wrote:Teams I will never root for: Maine, BU, Notre Dame, OSU, Minnesota. When teams like Minnesota and Maine play each other, I always hope that the earth will open up and swallow the arena and everyone in it.
I don't hate MSU like everyone else does though. Don't get me wrong, I'd never go to a game and root for them, but I'd definitely want them to beat, say, Michigan or Minnesota. Plus they had Ryan Miller, so I can find one good thing to say about them.

That'll make my friendhappy, as long as the right team in red and white wins... He asked me to do him a favor and root for Miami...McConvey wrote:After yesterday's press conferences, here is my prediction on the Northeast regional in Worcester:
The team wearing red and white will win.
There we go... that should cover me for anybody but BC winning
At least it's a MAC team...

I am definitely rooting for Miami. Since I followed no other sports at BG (and by that I mean football and basketball) I have nothing against Miami or any other MAC school. In fact, I rather like the RedHawks' hockey program and always rooted for them when they weren't playing BG.SaxyIrishTenor wrote: That'll make my friendhappy, as long as the right team in red and white wins... After Miami, I will be rooting for UNO... not because I like UNO or typically root for UNO, but because of these four teams (BC, BU, Miami, UNO) they're definitely the underdog.
Note the trend that everyone at the arena caught on to yesterday: I am rooting for the CCHA schools! I was awfully excited when I learned that two CCHA schools were coming to Worcester and that I wasn't going to be stuck with just BU. I was a little surprised that they put BC in this regional and not in the Albany one, but they've ensured that no conference (read: WCHA) can advance all it's teams to Milwaukee this year.
