"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

BIDDEFORD, Maine – The Portland Junior Pirates announced today that Jamie Dumont has been named Associate Head Coach of the Junior Pirates’ AJHL team and Director of Hockey Operations for the entire organization.

In addition to working alongside Jay Pecora on the AJHL team, Dumont will play an active role with the Junior Pirates AAA youth and midget teams, player recruitment at all levels, and the Junior Pirates summer development programs.

"I am very excited to join the Portland Junior Pirates organization”, said Jamie Dumont. “When the opportunity to return to my home state and work with the Junior Pirates organization became available, the opportunity was too good to pass up. I have always had a strong desire to help develop Maine players from the youth level to the Junior level. The Pirate organization has developed some great college prospects in the last few years. I am anxious to help them continue on that trend towards the future."

Dumont, a native of Lewiston, Maine, comes to the Junior Pirates after serving as an assistant coach this past season at the Division I level (CCHA) with the Bowling Green University hockey program.

"We are really excited to have Jamie join the Junior Pirates program," said President Sean O’Brien. "He brings a great amount of enthusiasm and work ethic to our family. Jamie has worked for some outstanding coaches and is an outstanding on ice teacher and tireless recruiter."

Prior to joining Bowling Green, Dumont served as the graduate assistant at the University of Maine (Hockey East) for one summer and was an assistant coach at Bowdoin College (NESCAC) for four seasons. While at Bowdoin, he worked with the Polar Bears defense and was responsible for video coordination and recruiting. He also served as the rink manager of Dayton Arena and worked in game management for fall and spring sports. In addition to his work with Bowdoin, Dumont has coached Maine State Select Teams with USA Hockey.

“I am extremely excited to work with Jamie,” said General Manager Jay Pecora. “His knowledge and experience at the Division I and III levels are going be a major asset for our program. In addition, his expertise in skill development is going to benefit all of our players tremendously.”

A graduate of Oswego State University, Dumont was a four-year letterman as the Lakers reached the SUNYAC playoffs each season. He began his coaching career as an undergraduate volunteer assistant at Oswego and helped guide the Lakers to the NCAA Quarterfinals in 1998. He then became an assistant at Hobart College for two seasons, reaching the ECAC West playoffs both seasons.

After leaving Hobart, Dumont was the hockey and coaching director for the Wyoming Amatuer Hockey Association. He served as head coach of the Wyoming Selects Midget AAA team. He also has experience as head coach of the Lakeland All-Star team in Calgary.
