I don't know if anyone watched the game lastnight between buffalo and carolina but it made me very proud when they brought up the statement that for game 1 on saturday the tv ratings for that game were higher in western new york than they were for the super bowl in western new york. god i miss living in buffalo.

I like how Mike Emrick (BG guy) mentions the colleges guys played for while doing the play by play. Unfortunately, I never heard him drop BG props while Ken Klee was going up against the Hurricanes.

How anyone can enjoy the NBA playoffs over the NHL is beyond me.

good question, i havent seen a basketball game in the playoffs that compairs to any of the hockey games. playoff hockey is the most exciting thing in sports.

ESPECIALLY the playoffs. If you're a fan of one sport, but not another, fine... but I don't understand the people that call hockey "stupid" or laugh at the poor ratings, then call themselves fans of NBA basketball. God, talk about boring... The NHL Playoffs are 10 million times better than the regular season, and the regular season is pretty damn good!
As for the ECF, I think they may stop playing the first and third periods of games, as the second period has been the one to own in the first three games. (unfortunately

ok watching almost every single game in the playoff's i must say that it is killinig me with some of the calls that carolina gets. i have watched all the other serieses and no team gets calls in favor of them like carolina. it is killing me because it almost seems like the nhl wants them in the stanley cup because they are a bigger market with bigger named players. the penalty that was given to buffalo in overtime was absolutley aweful. i don't even know if a basketball ref would have called that.

where's '87 with his WAAAAHHHH-mbulance?
I admit, I missed the call in OT because of work, but Carolina is definitely not getting all the calls in favor of them. Game 4 vs. NJ and Game 3 vs. Buffalo, they couldn't have kept them out of the box if they'd leave the door open.

ok so im really drunk right now but could you ask for anything else in a series. this eastern conference series should go down as one of the all time classics and im not just saying that cuz im from buffalo. it had everything you could want in a series.

Exactly. And I'm not just saying that because I'm a Canes fan.
The sad thing is, there are so many people that just write hockey off without giving it any kind of chance, and miss opportunities like this series and Game 7's that would likely turn them into fans. Even worse, I think this Canes-Oilers series could turn out to be just as tight and exciting as the ECF was, and no one will notice or give it a chance. Yet we'll get the NBA crammed down our throats at every turn. Blech.
I've got a feeling this Carolina-Buffalo rivalry could be one that renews itself at least a few times over in the next few playoff years.

i couldnt agree with you more. buffalo is young, fast and exciting to watch. i just feel so bad that they had so many people goo down in the playoffs, they were only playing with 3 regular defensmen tonight and tim connolly was a beast until he got sent into the next decade.

Buffalo just needs to try harder to choke in more spectacular fashion. You can't rest on Brett Hull or Scott Norwood's laurels forever.

I think if the "new NHL" stays this way, your Sabres will give you many more chances to break that jinx.
Of course, all that youth will have contracts to renew at the same time, and the new NHL's cap might not allow it.

The Whale!

HA!!! That's awesome!!!
It would be sweeter if it were the Whale for sure, but I'm enjoying this one a hell of alot, too! Although this sloppyness in their own end needs to end, and I don't know that I can even comment on the penalty situation...
