But seriously, having met Jonathan and his parents before, I have had no doubt that he was going to return. He is a good kid and comes from an even better family. He is going to be a huge asset to BGSU in the coming year, and I even think at this point for the next.

GO FALCON ICERS!!!

That is great news! After losing recent stars early to the pros like Omar Jacobs in football and Nolan Reimold in baseball, I'm happy to hear he'll be back. Don't get me wrong, I love seeing Falcons in the pros....I just like seeing it happen after they have used up all their eligibility at BG first.

Man, I find it hard to believe that he would actually want to come back to play for Paluch! Unbelievable considering the recent posts by certain people here. I mean, wow, I believed everything that they were writing about Paluch! Why would anyone want to come back and play for a coach like that?! I was sure he'd jump ship and leave; unless, of course I was being fed some BS here! is that possible?

I doubt him coming back has much to do with Pooch. Wether he likes him or not that doesnt matter. He is coming back becuase the Flyers do not need him on the Phantoms right now, their AHL team. He will be back in BG to work on taking care of his own zone better, and trying to put on a little more muscle. At this point in his career Pooch is basically irrelevant.

By that I mean if BG is 6-16 at the Christmas break and the Philly organization has numerous injurys in which call ups are needed, Matsu would maybe go to the AHL for a decent sining bonus.

I doubt that he'd leave for the Phantoms in December. He'd either leave by the end of the summer or in March.

Barring any disciplinary or academic issues it's extremely rare that a player leaves his collegiate team for the pros around Christmas. That's just not when teams are looking to bring a new guy into the system.

dannyk : I agree with your statement about his reasons for coming back, if he does come back.

I would wait to see what kind of offer Philadelphia makes, if they do make an offer for this season, before jumping to any conclusions that he will be back for sure this season.

And naturally, if he does come back for this season, I am sure that it is purely because of Paluch's coaching abilities.

Obviously his main concern at this point is how hard it would be to break away from Paluch as a coach.... since Paluch is so good as a coach, some experts are saying that the contract negotiations could possibly involve Paluch being part of a clause in the contract that would require Paluch to be named as the head coach of the Flyers when Matsumoto signs.

This is just some speculations from Barry Melrose and a few other experts, but the year to come could involve some interesting moves between NCAA and NHL organizations. Should be interesting to see how everything pans out.

he's coming back because the Flyers organization wanted him to. Any thoughts of Pooch being a swaying point are false. the fact is half the players can't stand pooch.

The fact is...this has been discussed in multiple other threads. Don't hijack this one with all of the crap
