looks sharp, but how many does it seat? I'm assuming the area behind the photographer and other parts out of view go up much higher, am I right?

Total seating is around 3500... room for another 500 standing... the sides mirror one another and the facility was built with the idea that it could be expanded if needed...
For this season there are more season ticket requests than actual seats in the building... but not all seats will be sold as season seats... its better to have to few seats then not enough with hockey...

You're right about that (the too few thing), or at least to an extent. Where would they plan on expanding seats, though? looks like an awful lot of brick butting up agains the back rows.

Why's the Miami logo turned the wrong way?

WOW!!! That's a bit of an improvement over the former facility!!!
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Photo ops is my guess. A long shot of the ice with the logo right side up instead of sideways would be quite striking on a printed page.BGDrew wrote:Why's the Miami logo turned the wrong way?
Very nice arena, to be sure.

It's a nice arena, but I'd like to see a shorter ceiling. I can imagine that arena probably wouldn't get too loud in big games, but I could be wrong.

I thought the same thing about the ceiling. For a hockey-only facility, you'd think they'd take some of those acoustics into consideration. Although it appears to be a metal roof, so that's gotta help some.
As for the logo, it looks like there's some fancy suite-type business above that far end. Might as well give the folks that are paying for the place a good view of the logo, I guess.

That's an awesome facility, the seats look really close to the ice too. Kinda weird looking at the boards and not seeing ads, I assume those will be added on later. Sure would be nice if BG could get a new ice facility, the current has it's charm, but the newer rinks are attracting the better players.

IF you haven't ventured over...

for more photos...
as for the high ceiling... I got tired of pucks hitting the ceiling... the only thing that needs to happen to keep the place loud will to keep the building full.
As for the seats they aren't even as low as the ice so you don't lose as much of the rink if you are lower... hockey is one of the few sports where its better to be a little higher then it is to be right next to the playing field.
There are suites/lofts/loges... whatever you want to call them available to rent... very cool... in the corners are Opera Boxes I believe for Cameramen...
What exactly is an ice arena suppose to look like?

Remember landscaping still needs ot be completed before its all said and done to give it a finished look.
