Without knowing at all what kind of profit margin BG hockey pulls in, I figured a few of ya would get a bit of a kick out of this one:

One question... when they're counting the books at the end of the year, does someone actually yell "UNO!" when they count the last dollar before hitting red?

If we're lucky they'll drop back down to d2 and out of our league. It's bad enough having UAF in our league....geographically UNO belongs in the WCHA.

Nebraska-Omaha seems like a pretty strong program, though.

Geographically, it would be interesting to trade Nebraska-Omaha to the WCHA for, say, Michigan Tech. But I assume there is a reason this hasn't been done, it may come down to the bigger upside for UNO.

As for Alaska Fairbanks: I'm sure if there was a PCHA, both Alaskas would be in it. Since there isn't, keeping them in different leagues means each CCHA and WCHA program has to buy a trip to Alaska every *other* year, rather than every year. It keeps costs down and shows a collegial spirit in Division I that makes college hockey pretty darned cool IMHO.
