the coach

Post by bigdog »

i am sorry to keep bringing this up but seriously it is time for people to see the light. Can we just for a moment look at the coach. Lets see his record since he has been here, 1 500- season, 0-8 in the playoffs and a bunch of players that hate hockey becuase of him. Its been 4 years don't you think if nothing else his record should get him kicked out. Lets be honest the man doesn't care about anyone, including his players. Its time for a change. I heard the new coach is a great guy maybe he should step in and get this team to where it should be.

i have a proposition for all of you that disagree with my opinion. Find any players that have played under the current coach and ask them their opinion. For some weird reason the coach has been able to fool everyone in the town of BG. It is one thing i can say about the man is that is a great PR person. Anyone that can have such a bad record, treat all the players like crap and be clearly dumb, yet still have some followers. Wow, someone sign this man up for the the PR job for the university!!

I know a few players and they have no problem with the coach.

I may agree that we haven't been steller the past few seasons, but Coach P. certianly hasn't done anything to my knowledge worthy of being run out of town. I hope we can build on the talent we have. If we can actually beat Michigan and OSU each once in the same year we got to have some players , Coach P. just has to build on what he has and get them into a strong consistent unit. Consistency has been the main problem over the years.

im back

Post by freddiethefalconBG »

i havent written on this in quite some time because i felt that i was just wasting my time. but i couldnt resist this one.

Finally someone steps up with some smarts. I could not agree with you more BigDog. I do not know if you played for him or maybe you were close with some players but you hit it right on the head. The man, which is an overstatement because he has the worst character i have ever seen, has no talent and no business being the head coach of a division 1 hockey team. It is just a shame that another year of players have to suffer under his poor coaching abilities.

Do any of you BG fans know what it is like to play for someone that you have zero confidence in. Do you know what it is like to work your ass off everyday for someone who does not care about you or any of your teamattes, or what it is like to play for a team that has plenty of talent but you know you can never be a great team because your coach lacks the skills required to win hockey games. Well i know hwat that is like because i witnessed it firsthand under him and it is a terrible feeling. Everyone here thinks they know what is going on and thinks everything is great with Paluch as the head coach. But you are all so wrong.

I just hope that the athletic department wakes up and gets rid of him so he can not hurt any more players the way he has the last 4 years.

I am not an angry player, I am a concerned alumni that wants BG to win and wants the players and the fans to get what they deserve. I feel bad for every player that has to play for him. The first step to making BG get back on top is getting rid of him and Fogarty.

I would recommend you get your evidence together and have a meething with the new athletic director. No one on here has the authority to remove a coaching staff so convincing us of problems you see is barking up the wrong tree. I don't know what your story is, just as I don't know what bigdog's story is. But without proof you will find little support here. If there is one thing I have noticed in my 10+ years around BGSU it is this. We do not pull the trigger quickly when it comes to making a coaching change. We did not with Blackney, Powers, or Dakich; and we will not with Paulich (sp?). I don't say this to try and get into a pissing match with you, but those are the facts as I see them. Basically, if you want change, talk to those who can make the changes.

Coach fired after 4 season.....

Post by Falconboy »

It rarely happend here anyway, and it won't start with Coach P. Its gonna take more serious decline in the hockey program over the next 2-3 years before his firing is brought up by the AD.

A few random thoughts..

1. The personal stuff is pathetic.
2. IMO, a 12th place finsh is evidence enough of a poor pefromance and the "burden" should be on those who think Scott and Ron are good and will do well need to provide evidence to support their postions (injures etc). I look at this as a business performance review and nothing more.
3. As far as all the analysis of recruiting, game day decisions and personnel, this talk was very similar to what was discussed when Buddy was the coach. Unfortunately, this "overanalysis" blinded me and others who kept thinking that it will get better and before you know it 8 years passed and the program was in the toilet.
4. A few people think that time has permanantly passed this program by and/or BG will never be a top program again. I would ask Buddy what an administration needs to do to provide the needed support to be a top prigram (better arena is a start). I've posted here a trillion times (too many!) and do not believe for a minute that BG could not be a hockey power again if the powers to be wanted it to be. The vast majority of hockey powers are MUCH smaller schools in enrollment than BG. If this was a priority it would, could and shold be a perennial top 15 program.

I think it's time we start asking many people these questions - as I analyzed in an e-mail over the Summer, a less than 6th place average finish over 17 years really tarnishes the glory days of the program.

Just a thought. And before everybody gets personal at each other, remember theat we all have the same goal/dream - that BG becomes a hockey power, the kids do well and school and mature accordingle=y and it helps BG a school and community.

Which in my opinion Paluch can do.
