It's interesting that rather than do the "hybrid" arena they're just building two seperate venues. I think that significantly jacked up their price but should really give the arena a great feel.

But I wonder, in the long term, if it turns out to be more cost-effective? Considering changeover time of basketball to hockey and back, and always having an ice surface available for practice or rental to area leagues, would they earn back whatever the extra cost might be?

It very well could Tony. I'm just not sure that with as conservative as we've been with "feasibility study" after study that we would try doing something which such a high initial investment.
If the University ever moves the Hockey team to an arena like the Schott, I'd have a hard time getting behind the University.

I agree with that last point a lot, Drew. And TG (I hate to say it...douchebag

), you're right. In talking to Paul Krebs about the Schott, one of his regrets about the facility was that it was so costly to change from the court to ice on a constant basis. I don't think we would ever do that here.
I must say, though, a Quinnipiac-type facility would be
fantastic on those Saturdays when there is both a home Men's Game and a home hockey game. Hell, can you imagine how friggin cool a tripple-header would be (w/ women's b-ball included - GO LADY FALCONS!)? Can you imagine how much beer we would have to store in the trunk for a day like that?

My guess would be triple the games, triple the beer...Hells Yeah!
