Can we take at least one of these games this weekend?
Will the Frosh be in net again?

I think we could take the first one in this series...but once Miami sees what we have and how we play, they will play alot better in the second game.

I disagree. I think you'll see Spratt in net Friday night. If things get ugly, then I think Neville will take over Saturday.

If we take one down in Oxford I would be happy. If we are 3-2-1 after the first 3 weeks, I think we are in good shape. The key is to not get swept against Miami and come back the next weekend, defend home ice & sweep LSSU. That is a huge series early in the season and will show us how we stack up against the middle of the pack teams in the CCHA. If we win those 2 against the Lakers, 5-2-1 looks real good folks.

Well, last year it seemed like we were getting blown out on the first nights of doubleheaders quite a bit, and then were playing a lot better the second night. Either way, it will be tough against Miami, and a split would be fine with me.

Miami is hardly a middle of the pack team right now. Years past, yes, right now, no. Look at the pre-season predictions.

Look at what they did with Denver and Michigan (at Yost). The Vermont game had an additional official which hurt Miami...... They only lost Andy Greene and Matt Davis from last years squad. There are plenty of excellant players to replace those losses - Nathan Davis and Mitch Ganzak are very good.

This is going to be a tough series, but a telling series. If BG plays closes games or can pull a game out of the series, it should be a good indicator for BG.

Hey BGfan, I thought pre season predictions meant nothing, or does that mean there is truth as to where BG is predicted to finish. Cant have it both ways.

There is plenty of truth to the preseason polls but at the same time I wouldnt make a big deal of an occasional win versus a top 10 ranked team. When you play a 40 game season every team has a big win or two but the final standings are the real indicator of where your program is.

At BG wins over UM, and MSU are nice, and we have had plenty of these in the last few years , but when you follow those weekend splits up by getting swept by teams like Ferris and Western the big win is worth nothing.

Progress in college hockey is measured by consistenly beating teams you should beat.

These kids have the talent to take both, but count on a split. We are now free from the 7 who were just simply put not good players. Who folded under the presure last year to preform and get the job done. But we should have expected it, they were small in size and lacked the speed and more so the heart to get it done. This new team has real winers on it, and you can expect great play out of them now and more so in the future, as the "team" develops. We are now realy taping into some amazing talent and not just geting the "best we can " leftovers from Powers destruction of the program.
We have put in the new foundation and now we can start putting the walls up.

Macman you frustrate me with your overwhelming ignorance. The 7 players that weren't good. I'm sorry would they be the 7 players that helped BG be the second highest scoring team in the CCHA. Undersize, have you looked at the freshman this year. They are much smaller and severly underweight. Its embarrassing and so is your lack of knowledge about hockey.

Actually, that was me that said pre-season predictions mean nothing. I don't remember BGFan making any statement towards preseason rankings. No poll is needed to know that MiAudi is a very good team.

I believe we have one close game and an ugly game. Regardless, we get swept by MiAudi.

Man, is there an ignore feature to these boards?

I'm this close to naming who I think BigDog really is...
