At Bowling Green, Ohio, Lake Superior State recorded its third straight victory and improved to 2-1-0 in the CCHA with a 3-1 win over Bowling Green State. Lakers senior goaltender Jeff Jakaitis blocked 34 shots for the win while Lake Superior received goals from freshman forward Nathan Perkovich, senior forward Jeff Rainville and senior defenseman Barnabas Birkeland. Lakers senior forward Trent Campbell tallied two assists in the game. Bowling Green State sophomore forward Brandon Svendsen scored the lone goal for the Falcons, his first of the season.
The Lakers played with only five defensemen because sophomore Marty Gurnoe and freshman Steven Kaunisto missed the game due to illness.
