question

This is somewhat towards bigdog and the other players. Bigdog you mentioned specifically that facilities were somewhat of a problem, and I think everyone will agree with that. However we all know that a new rink is not coming anytime soon. It took 30 years to get new boards. That out of the question what do you think is the ceiling for this team in the CCHA even if we got a new coach?

Personally I do not think we will be going to the NCAA tourney anytime in the next six years, barring us riding a hot goalie through the CCHA playoffs and an autobid somehow.

It seems that 6th place, and home ice is what we should be in the hunt for year in and year out.

I don't agree with that.

with Pooch as the coach I am predicting a 9th place finish. With a new coach I think a 6th place finish is attainable.

Shouldn't we be in the in the hunt for the first place every year? Doesn't mean we are going to get it, but setting your standards lower, in any sport, is just giving up on the kids who are on your team. And I also, do not agree that we need a new facility. I do believe that there is a LOT that can be done to improve the current one, however.

GO ICERS!!
SWEEEEP THE LAKERS!!

I don't think the rink is as much as a factor as some of the other things. Look at Yost....what a dump! There is absolutely nothing wrong with the ice they got the new boards, and lights, now what they need is a real SOUND SYSTEM!!! I like our area, it is comfortable! I went to the Miami (and even thought it looks spectacular), the seating is very close together. If you are tall than 5'4" and weigh more than 95 lbs your knee are hitting the row in front of you and are on top of the person next to you. Same way at Ohio State. I like the bench seating! The only other thing I can think would make it better, is to have another practice ice. I would say renovate, there is plenty of room to move the tennis courts further out.

And yes no matter what we should be hunting and hungry and looking to be in that #1 spot....NO MATTER WHAT!

OK bigdog, let's assume that through some cataclysmic chain of events, you are appointed AD. I'm certain that your first official duty would be to fire Pooch. Who is on your list of potential replacements?

1. Nelson Emmerson- for obvious reasons
2. Danton Cole- have heard nothing but positives from the players about him, great experience
Those would be two of the main candidates that I could name off the top of my head.

What is Emerson doing now-a-days? It's been a couple years since he retired from the Kings(?). I haven't heard of any updates with him. To risk an understatement, he was awesome to watch. F-A-S-T!

Danton Cole is currently a HC in the AHL (?). I'm not sure BG could lure him away from the pros should BG ever have a need to change direction. Besides, he's an old Egg Sucker which makes him inherently evil in my book. :-D

According to Wikipedia, "Nelson Emerson is now employed as a video and player development consultant with the Los Angeles Kings."

I think Emerson and Blake own a minor league team, don't they?
