I have always loved the chill in the air at our ice house, and cool musty smell, and how on game night the popcorn and dogs could be smelled as you entered the rink.

As a kid i loved playing floor hockey in the Nw corner, then siting behind the penalty box and stiring things up with visiting teams.

The sounds of the 70's and 80's where each game was at times louder than a rock concert and whole energy experience of just being there.
Waiting after games to see player heros as a kid.
Geting excited on youth hockey night when players refed games and would at times watch from the stands.
Having the living crap beat out of you at hockey camp by the players then being told they thought you were doing a good job.

I used love it when the student would pull out the BG news during a game

I loved it when the polish Olympic team came to town to play.

the oct game against the toledo gold diggers which was called after two for fighting...fights we won the better number of...in a game we were wining. I would like to see us play the storm, not cause i think we would win, or the storm would win, I just think that because Toledo sucks and has not invested in a hockey program it would be fun.

The disillusionment I felt when buddy was named to replace Jerry. The intrigue of Jerry replacing ron and when Ron replaced Jack.

The first half of your post before you went and got all old on us is spot on! (The chill, the smell, the cold bleachers, the BG News... getting out there to grab a seat in the corner early... the cold walk there and back to the dorms... wandering aimlessly along an empty lobby hallway gazing at the pics of those in the hall of fame and the trophy cases that were in the hallway that included cards of all the BG icers that made the pros... the sound of hockey anywhere is awesome, but even more so with the low ceilings and tight walls...)

I remember when Jerry left, feeling a bit down that a legend had moved on.

the cold walk there and back to the dorms

For some reason, the cold walk to and from the dorms with a big group of friends resonates pretty strongly in my memories. Moreso than the cold walks to Anderson.

Freddy throwing me a power play shirt was pretty cool too.

I can remember the disappointment when Ron Mason left.

Ive only been here since last year. but my favorite memory in BG hockey from when ive been here has to be the game against scUM! a 5-2 whopping!

Seeing the sh## eating grin on The Terminator's (Iain Duncan) face after just leveling another player.

I loved getting to the arena 2 hours before the doors opened just so you could stand inside. Then playing cards and talking with some on this very board. And harassing the "old man" to let us in early, I actually miss him. Then the sprint from the door to the front row of Section E, Seat 14 I believe. Harassing the refs, opposing team, placing my "bet" for the exhibition skater. Basically, everything that is Falcon hockey. It's like no other place on earth and I love it all.

The "old man" hasn't been there yet this season. Not sure if he retired or what.

Watching Chad Arthur go at it with some of the Illinois Chicago players in warmups. I believe this is the reason refs are on the ice during warmups now.

That was classic....

The reason the refs started wearing helmuts: I can't remember which one, but he took a puck to the noggin' in the ice arena. Knocked him out cold.

What I loved about game night is the excitement I felt going into the rink, knowing that you were in for a great time, with a lot of noise and a lot of cheering! It was going into that rink EXPECTING to win EVERY game and rarely being disappointed!!! It was lining up at the door by 4 pm to race into the arena and get a good seat in Section A (before we had the money to buy season tickets!!). It was having 3/4 of the place holding up newspapers and and screaming, "WHO'S HE? NOBODY!!" It was an arena with a common thread, all yelling "GO-GO-GO-GO-GO" (pointing toward the opposing goalie) after everyone holding up their hands and doing the goal count!! It was the hilarious things we used to yell at the opposing goalie from Sections A & H, getting him rattled and off his game. It was poking fun at the refs: "He's Terrible...And Ugly...And Terrible....And Ugly...AND TERRIBLY UGLY!!!" It's yellling, "THAT'S DEBATABLE!!" after Tom Glick would announce that the opposing team was back to full strength. It was reading the Section A Screamer and Bulah's Bugle at the games. And it was the MOST fun I have ever had at any sporting event! EVER!!!!

Being able to hang over the glass to high five a player. (The panels were only 4 feet high.)
