Paluch announces Brian Bales decision to leave Falcons....

Post by FalconBlue »

Brian Bales the standout forward from Sioux City one of the USHL's best managed and coached teams has decided to leave the BGSU Falcons.

Bales in 2004/2005 lead Sioux City with 61 points in the regular season and was key to the teams league success culminating in his team playing in the USHL Championship. The Championship was finally won by Cedar Rapids 3 games to 2 in the best of 5 Championship. In the 13 games of the playoff Brian contributed 15 points.

It only boggles the mind why Scott Paluch never gave Brian an opportunity to prove himself. We are all aware that for various reasons Brian found himself “benched” for much of his freshman year but he has worked hard at reversing those issues. It seems logical that the team, not performing on offence, would welcome Brian’s ability to score goals. Instead, Pooch has constantly belittled him to the extent that he now is forced to try other options.

After accepting BGSU’s offer Brian was recruited by, among others Miami, but he remained true to his commitment to BGSU, not so Scott Paluch.

I can only wish Brian the very best, wherever he goes.

Why should any of this suprise anyone. I can say it right now that Bales wanted to quit last year. It is such a shame!!!! Just another kid that has turned away from playing hockey due to the fantasic coaching of POOCH. Get rid of him before more kids quit, cause it is only a matter of time. Good luck Bales.

Listen, I'm trying to stay out of this remarkable pissing-match, but I must say this - Bales never did anything at BG to make me think that he was anywhere near capable of playing D1 collegiate hockey. The kid was slow and had rocks for hands. Period. I remember saying as much to BGFan immediately after the first game I saw this year. Quite frankly, so far, he has been a total disappointment, and I certainly didn't see Pooch tying weights to the kid's legs or beating him about the hands. I'm sad to see him leave the program if this is true, but please don't try to make him out to be some sort of hero for your own subversive purposes.

No agenda here, his record prior to BGSU speaks for itself. I don't make it up. I just look it up. Try that sometime.

I'm also trying to stay out of it, but have you ever encountered a situation where a player looked good on paper and couldn't translate it to Division I? Just curious.

I know Bales personally and I can say that he is a good player. I mean he was suppossed to be in the top three recruits for his class. He is a good player.
It is however hard when the coach has no confidence in you, you never see PP and and you play minimal amounts in games to really show what you have.

He also has some problems with discipline considering he was busted TWICE for underage drinking last year.

Rebuilding trust is a difficult thing to do....

Give me a break...If you are going to bring that up, I do believe there was a freshman this year that was caught for underage drinking and they are playing?????

And yet, Bales sat for most of his freshman year, the kid made a mistake, he paid his dues and still isn't given the chance. Which is another example why Pooch doesn't treat the players as a "team". What is good for the goose is good for the gander.

He has kept his grades up and hasn't gotten into anymore trouble. So, how is he suppose to gain the trust back if he is never on the ice????

GOOD LUCK BALES!!!

I would think the last thing that would can a player here is drinking. We all know the problems two years ago with the racial slur picture and the problems Pooch had to deal with last year with the team and drinking.

That is one area Pooch has done a great job. Keeping things in house and not letting the public know about too much the different shananigans.

The reason he sat for the second half of the season was because he was academically ineligible. He sat most of the first half because he wasn't ready to play because of the underage offense and subsequent suspension from the team.

Bales getting the shaft

Post by jhockey »

Brian Bales is one of the better guys on the team. He has tried so hard to improve from last year. It easy for you people to judge someone by something that that they messed up on. But you dont see how hard he has worked to overcome that. You mention him getting two underage arrest and struggling with grades, but do you know that Ed Neville threatned to stab and attack the bartender at a local bar becuase the bartender told him to leave two girls alone. The bartender called the cops over the threat.

Eddie is playing a lot and the only punishment that he got was two weeks of 6 a.m's. Paulch does not punish the team equally and plays favourites. Think about what you know and how crediable your information is before you open your mouth next time.
