You beat me to it! I was going to post this, after getting an email from Jordan telling me Jonathan had been called up and is expected to play in the game tomorrow night against the Ottawa Senators.

Well, your probably going to get some reasons why within a few hrs or less.

It's too bad if you never got to see Jonathan (or Jordan for that matter) on the ice. Jonathan is one of smoothest skaters you'll ever see. He's got that rare quality where it looks like he is making no effort at all. Truly a sight to behold! Paul Coffey could skate like that. Not only is Jonathan an excellent skater, he's a great passer and he is extremely intelligent. He was born to play hockey. God gave he and Jordan a gift, and they are using them to their fullest potential. Now, if we can just get he and Jordan to the Bruins together, wouldn't that be awesome!

End of the 1st, Sigalet has 5 shifts and 3:57 (0:36 SH; 3:21 EV), according to ESPN.com.

Jonathan picked up almost 15 mins of ice time and some kind words from coaches and teammates. He finished with 1 shot, 2 penalties and a -2 for the night.

What makes Jonathan a good player is his awareness of the game. He seems to know where the play is going, and what he needs to do to turn it to his team's advantage.
He's also a very good skater and passer.
He and Kevin Bieksa were a great combination their last year here at BG. They could really control a game. Very little dump and chase when they brought the puck up ice.

What I admired most about his game was his confidence. Even as a freshman, he showed a willingness to aggressively (but intelligently)skate the puck out of hiw own end. A lot of defensemn look to move the puck as quickly as possible. Jonathan wasn't afraid to rush end to end...I don't recall him getting trapped that often, either

Unfortunately, he was sent back to Providence yesterday. Boston looked to have a day-to-day D shortage with a couple injuries and a wife giving birth, but apparently they've gotten them back quickly.

Still sounds like he did as well as could be expected with his cup of coffee.

I resumed paying attention to BG hockey at the start of the 2000-2001 season, so I have seen both Sigalets and Bieksa. I do remember Jonathan forcing his man to the outside when defending a rush, but I thought he could be too cute with the puck sometimes.

Bieksa struck me as a good player, and it was nice to see his penalty minutes decrease from season to season. I sometimes look at Canucks box scores to find out if he did anything worth mentioning.
