Falcon icers blanked again.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Even a perfect defensive game wouldn’t have been enough for Bowling Green’s hockey team to win Tuesday night.
The Falcons — like they’ve done all season — struggled to score goals and were far from perfect defensively.
They were shut out for the sixth time this season in a 5-0 loss to 13th-ranked Michigan at Yost Ice Arena.
The Falcons, who were held to two or fewer goals for the 16th time this season, dropped to 5-17-1 overall and 3-12 in the CCHA. Michigan played well offensively and defensively, and took over third place in the league.

“Not scoring goals is really hurting our confidence and our overall game,” BG coach Scott Paluch said.

BG was shut out for the second straight game and hasn’t scored in its last 129:02.

“You can do all of the things well ... finish checks, move your feet, get good chances to score, but it doesn’t matter if you’re not scoring,” BG junior forward Jonathan Matsumoto said. “When you don’t score, you lose confidence in each part of your game.”

The Wolverines opened the scoring on Kolarik’s power-play goal at 2:43. He cut across the left side of the crease to tip in T.J. Hensick’s pass from the left-wing boards.
“That was not the ideal start,” Paluch said of the first period. “We were able to manage things and keep it at 1-0 after one and had a team feeling it wasn’t too bad going into the second period.”
The Falcons couldn’t score 5-on-5 and their power play was 0-of-9 with just nine shots in 14:20.
Michigan’s penalty-killing was excellent, pressuring BG into mistakes at both ends of the ice.
