Commissioners' Cup

Post by BGSUfanatUT »

the 6 1-A conf. are competing in OOC play for the commissioners cup this year. Each conf. will play 7 games, with 3 home, 3 away, and 1 neutral site. 2 points for a win, 1 for tie. THe conf with the most points wins the cup. After the first day of commish. cup games heres how we stand:

CCHA(1-0) - 2 pts
HEA(1-0) - 2 pts
CHA(1-2) - 2 pts
ECACHL(1-1) - 2 pts
WCHA(0-0) - 0 pts
AHA(0-2) - 0 pts

Ferris beat Bemidji State for our only game this weekend. The CHA is at a huge disadvantage now with only 4 games left, while 3 confs have 6 or 7 left.

This weekend Miami @ St. lawrence is the CCHA's game. So things are looking good.

Here is the rest of the CCHA schedule:

Nov. 4th - Northern Michigan @ Michigan Tech
Nov. 12th - UCON @ Ferris St.
Dec. 30th - ohio state v. Colorado College (nationwide arena)
Jan. 21st - Wisconsin @ Notre Dame
Jan. 29th - Wayne State. @ Nebraska-Omaha

its funny how out "neutral" site game is in columbus...and ohio state gets to play it... (and I thought they never left Cbus for football only) Which it does work in the CCHAs favor so i wont complain too much, but its kind of shady. But CC is the best team we have to play in teh cup games, so its a good thing.

WE also get all 3 away games out of the way early, which is nice.

BG doesnt get to play at all, bummer, especially b/c Ferris get TWO games....hmmm

Really the schedule looks stacked heavly in the CCHA's favor, so hopfully we can pull it off. Ive already got a spreadsheet going b/c Im a stats nerd (b/c of baseball) so Ill keep everyone informed as to how we are doing. perfect so far!

Does this mean that our two wins against Union don't count in this?

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Even without the 7 players, I believe BG could really take both games. I have been reading up on my hockey lately and we have a better team than I thought. Go Falcons!!
