Falcon icers blanked again by Sentinel-Tribune

OMAHA, Neb. — Jerad Kaufmann made 28 saves and Scott Parse had two goals and one assist Saturday to lead Nebraska-Omaha to a 7-0 win over Bowling Green in a Central Collegiate Hockey Association game at Qwest Center.
The Mavericks scored twice in both the first and third periods and added three goals in the second period to complete a sweep of the series. UNO was a 2-1 winner Friday.
The sophomore had 10 saves in each of the first two periods and eight saves in the third period as the Falcons were shut out for the third time in their last four games and seventh time this season.
The Falcons fell to 5-19-1 overall and 3-14 in the CCHA. They’re last in the league with six points, two behind 11th-place Ferris State and seven behind ninth-place Alaska and Northern Michigan. BG visits Northern this weekend.
UNO improved to 10-9-6, 6-7-2 and into seventh place in the league, just four points out of fourth.
The Mavericks finished with a 44-28 advantage in shots, including a 34-18 margin during the first two periods.
BG goalies Jimmy Spratt and Eddie Neville combined for 37 saves. Spratt stopped 29-of-34 shots during the first two periods.
In addition to the seven shutouts, BG has scored just one or two goals in nine other games. The Falcons have scored only 48 goals in their 25 games, including 31 goals in their 17 league games.
The Mavericks took a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals from Jeric Agosta at 1:43 and Mick Lawrence at 9:35.
Dan Charleston gave UNO a three-goal lead at 9:34 of the second period, and power-play goals 33 seconds apart from Scott Parse and Adam Bartholomay increased the lead 5-0. Both goals were scored in 4-3 situations, with Parse scoring at 17:24.

“It was obviously a game that got away from us with the penalties in the second period,” BG coach Scott Paluch said. “We had a 3-0 game that we still had a shot at and we just weren’t good enough in all areas of the game.”

Third-period goals from Brent Kisio at 10:18 and Parse at 14:14 completed the scoring.
The BG power play was 0-of-6, while UNO was 2-of-8.
BG’s Brandon Svendsen suffered bruised ribs when he was hit into the boards by a UNO player late in the second period. His status for the Northern series hasn’t been determined.
