Big CCHA series with LSSU this weekend!

Post by BGSU33 »

This is a great chance to keep the momentum building. Lake Superior State comes in winless, let's send them home the same and get a couple CCHA wins under our belts!
GO BG!!!

Here's to hoping for good crowds this weekend at the games. This team deserves all the support we can muster. You can tell they work hard and are focused for a serious run this year. As long as Siggy stays healthly we have a real good shot at finishing in the top 4. I am fired up about the youngsters we have already contributing. We could be looking at appearances in the NCAA's w/in a year or two.

I haven't been to the Ice arena in a couple years (live in NY). Any new additions/upgrades to the inside or outside of the rink? New banners? Did they keep the 1984 chamoionship player banners up? Those were cool.

Prediction:
BG 5 LSSU 2
BG 4 LSSU 1

They have added new signs for the sections. So when you are waking around behind the stands you can find yoru seat easier, they look quite snazzy too.

Also at the end of the hear I hear we are redoing the CCHA banners. I think they said they were adding a 04-05 to the CCHA tourney banner

BGSU 3 LSS 2 (OT)

I see they took down the walkway covers that had fallen during the summer....didn't a car hit it or something? WTF?

I saw the new addition before it was completed, but judging from the pictures I saw after its completion, it looks very nice. It's kind of hidden being it's off to the side and all. But if you can find it, it looks nice.

I too hope BG hockey storms back. When I was in schools (1993-97), we always had great crowds for games.

You are correct, the walkway covers were removed after a girl (who was "practice" driving) hit them and demolished some of it. All of them were taken down, except the ones over the doors. I think something new will be put in later. And the next time you are here, you need to take a look at the new addition in the back. The Alumni Lounge, the coaches office, etc. are fantastic!! Great recruiting tool, too!!

It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

By that I meant she had a learner's permit. Supposedly a squirrel ran out in front of her and she freaked and turned the wheel the wrong way. Lots of student drivers practice their parking in that lot, though many have moved to the Field House lot, where the pavement is a LOT nicer!! (read: FIX the Ice Arena Parking Lot...that is what is crap!!!)

SO anyway, back to the thread, I still think we sweep LSS this weekend, even with the 7 player loss. Maybe not as dominate at we all thought, I stick my 3-2(OT) win in one game, and change my prediction toa 2-0 win in the other.

The Lakers come in battle hardened with their games against Michigan. Our games with them have been close the last several years, including the 0-0 tie last year. Crazy Frank is coaching them up, and Pooch is coaching up the Falcons.

Guess we'll find out if the strength & conditioning pay off; won't be much time to catch their breaths with the shortened bench.

This will be a tough weekend for some of the parents. Many of them planned to be here for a meet and greet event.
All is for the best in this best of all possible worlds.

I think the Falcon hockey team will get a win on friday and a tie on saturday. I sure hope I'm wrong and they get 4 points from the weekend. This would be huge if they could start 2-0 in the CCHA. GO BG!!! Beat LSSU!!!
If you go to Toledo or you like Toledo, you suck!!!
